I've just stuck osme ££ down on Cotto to win at 2/1 (surprisingly high odds imo). I actually fancy MIguel to knock him out, huge props to Pacquiao if he does win

Cotto has all the tools and style to give Pacquiao nightmares but IMO I think the beating Cotto took at the hands of a cheating Margarito was the kind that stays with a fighter and pushes him the other side of his peak. He was a broken man in that fight and his subsequent struggle against Clottey was proof, I think, of a man the other side of his peak. Bit like Meldrick Taylor after Chavez, just never the same.
Even so, against Pacquiao I can see Cotto starting well, hurting and possibly even knocking Pacman down, only for Manny to recover, punch his way back and gradually get into the fight and mark up, punish then stop Cotto anywhere after the 8th round.

Cant see cotto catching him with much leather

Pacquiao on points for me. Massive props if he stops Cotto, as although Cotto looks vunerable at times, it took massive welterweight Margarito 11 rounds to stop him and that may have been with hardened wraps.

So many reasons why Pacquaio should win this - speed of hand feet, stamina, sharper puncher, better defense, power, and Cotto might have been ruined against Marg. There's 2 reasons Cotto can win size, his timing punnishing Pacs errors.
There are a few question marks. How will Cotto take Pacs power? I really don't think Cotto has better punch resistance than Hatton, but his defense is better but not by that much, hes nearly always hurt in fights, if Pacquaio hurts him hes going to finnish him. How will Pacquaio handle Cottos power? Another big question, I dont think Cottos a big puncher but he is a damaging puncher to the head and body and Pacquaio hasnt taken much above 135. Can Cotto time and outbox Pacquaio the way Marquez did? Thats his real chance if he can, I don't think Cotto is as good of a counter puncher and he doesnt have the same right hand or sharpness imo.
Pacquaio KO although I'm not sure when, I can see him taking him out early or late, I certainly see Pacquaio's better stamina taking Cotto out late, I hope its a closish fight for 6rounds before Pacquaios stamina turns up the heat for a late KO because that could make it a classic

I have to say I dont think hatton wouldve taken the shots Cotto did against margarito and remained upright.

It should be a cracking fight, 50-50 IMO. If I was gonna bet my money would be going on Cotto to stop him (due to the odds)

Pacquiao mid KO
I've watched Judah-Cotto and Cotto struggled for a start with Judah's southpol stance and fast hands, Pac has faster hands and more power imo, Judah also hurt Cotto with a big uppercut also Cotto will struggle to get his best punch left hook to the body off as it's difficult to land against a southpol. I see Pac boxing and moving for a start in and out then at around the 6th he starts standing his ground setting his feet more therefore getting more power in, In round 8 I see him landing a big punch and stopping Cotto on his feet

Think Miguel will pull this out. Initially I went for Pacman but I just can't imagine he can beat a 147 pounder like Cotto. If he can beat Cotto, and do it by KO, I think I might actually give him a chance against Floyd. However in this fight I just see Cotto methodically sticking to his jobl, throwing combinations and getting to Pacman by the middle to the fight. The combinations will start to hurt more, Pacman will be on the run but will get mowed down.
If we see a spectacular KO from Pacman again, it might just be the best performance I've ever seen.

Everybody struggles with Judah early on,even PBF.If you watch Cotto-Margarito again,i think you will find he was winning comfartably for the first 6 rounds(?).He also beat Sugar Shane who went on to defeat Margarito.I would say its a genuine even money bout, but 2-1 represents great value.

I'm going for Cotto KO 3.
Pac is not beyond being stopped and there was one left hook Hatton caught him with early on that legit seemed to buzz Pacquiao in that fight.
Cotto is bigger and hits harder and likely won't go away as easily as Hatton did. Cotto will land and land often enough to take a toll. Pac barely took a punch against DLH, so I think he's in for a bit of a shock when he takes a flush Cotto shot.
But styles make fights. I'd still pick Pac to beat Mayweather, and Mayweather to beat Cotto. Funny that.

hink people are gonna be surprised by how well manny handles cotto this weekend, no 2nd roud ko but see cotto being competitive for 3-4 rounds then taking a protracted beating effectively finishing him as an elite fighter.

For me it's Cotto by late ko, you'll see when they are in the ring together that Cotto is MUCH bigger than Pac, he's also MUCH better than Hatton, De la Hoya (version that fought Pac) and Diaz. Not taking anything away from Pac he is one of the best p4p fighters in the world, but this is a bridge to far.

speed kills.
pac's quicker.
better engine.
trickier to pin down.
don't rule cotto out though.
that's what makes it a great fight.

i've gone 180 degrees on this, at least once
for the life of me i can't see how people can be so confident in Pac stopping Cotto when pac's power above 135- hell, he had to bounce 690 punches of lightweight sitting duck target David Diaz to stop him- is, as yet, unproven. let me say again Diaz is tough but (a) about 20lbs lighter than Cotto and (b) shot and (c) not as defensively accomplished as cotto
but apparently according to some pac will stop cotto quicker than he stopped Diaz.
even with the argument that Pac not having to drain to 135 or below makes him much better (which i kindof agree with but only kindof...) i still don't see the equation 'pac takes 600 punches to stop Diaz, pac can take 100 punches to stop cotto', i can't see how it works. maybe i am being too simplistic and it requires some ace forum equivocator to explain it to me.
oh and the pac not having to drain argument works both ways, surely? IE, he no longer has the advantage of bullying people naturally 10lbs or whatever smaller...?
and yeah, cotto had some problems with judah, but i have seen some totally stupid sheet talked about how that might relate to cotto-pac ('pac is like judah but with more power and a better chin' being only one of the more ridiculous statements, IMO), when IMO Pac's power AND chin are simply unproven above 135lbs.
then there is cotto. took some hellacious whacks from mosley over 12 rounds. yet somehow to some its a foregone conclusion that pac can stop him where the much bigger mosley- a man with one pucnh stoppages over not one but TWO full 154lbers- didn't even come close.
how the hell anyone can be totally confident, in the way Pac's chin matches Cotto's punch, and the way Pac's punch supposedly wrecks Cotto's chin, how anyone can be 100% confident on that, is beyond me.
hell, i can see pac winning, but to call it as anything but a really close fight in which probably 4 outcomes are entirely viable, to me I just can't see it
anyway so, today and for the last couple of days, my final until i make another prediction is Cotto stops him. my reasoning being, umm, pac's never took a pun ch from any fullgrown welter, cott is much better boxer and slightly better defensively than given credit for, and blah bla blah
mostly i see Cotto's jab messing with pac's timing and rythmn and pushing him back. of course, it's not the first time i have expected a much bigger welter to do that to Pac so who knows.....?
