Last year, Casamayor-Katsidis was a great scrap which stands out for me, because, not only was it not a winner, it was forgotten remarkably quickly. It sort of got sandwiched between a very high-profile affair (Marquez-Pacquiao II) & a barn-burner (Vazquez-Marquez III) & it just got heavily over-shadowed.

Excellent battle, with the legit LW crown on the line.

A few that stick out in my mind are:

Mando Ramos-Sugar Ramos (should of been FOTY)
Frankie Duarte-Albert Davila
Marco Antonio Barrera-Kennedy McKinney (again should of been FOTY)
Simon Brown-Tyrone Trice I
Aaron Pryor-Alexis Arguello I
Matthew Hilton-Buster Drayton
Alejandro Gonzalez-Kevin Kelley

I could compile a big list of fights that I found more entertaining then the fights that the Ring Magazine picked for each year.

Cambell-Diaz had the same problem.

Ibeabuchi-Tua was a great one, a true HW slugfest between two of the hardest punchers to ever walk the planet. Neither man wanted to give up ground so they wound up in a trench-warfare situation with both of their chins being highlighted a thousand times over.

I also really like Cotto-Torres. It was overshadowed by Corrales-Castillo but it was an excellent fight in its own right with the unknown late-replacement Ricardo Torres giving Miguel Cotto what's still one of the toughest fights of his entire career. Every time Cotto seemd to be close to finishing Torres Ricardo would explode with a series of punches that would send Cott wobbling all over the ring. Cotto eventuallu whethered the numerous storms and wore down Torres leaving him exhausted on a knee after a brutal body assault.

Benn Eubank 1 Gatti vs Rodriguez, Hamed vs Sanchez, Danny Williams vs Mark Potter (Williams' right arm dislocates at the shoulder and he KOs Potter one handed). Pavlik Taylor 1, Duddy v Smichet.

OH and Wlad Vs. Ibragimov. Clinchko solidified his status as the GOAT in that fight :box: .

Benn-McClellan probably would of been FOTY had it not been for the tragedy that ensued as a result of the match.

A few more:

Etienne-Clay Bey
Canizales-Seabrooks I
Canzoneri-Chocolate I
Paez-Grove
Chacon-Lopez

Rodel Mayol vs Eagle Kyowa was friggin' awesome! IF they were several pounds heavier they would have been fight of the year frontrunners. But it went on the same year, I think, with the Somasak vs Monshipour fight so it was understandable. But that was a good fight!

Now there's a term we should use lightly, in this instance...

I know it's not like a group of elderly nuns perished in a tragic tent fire but something along the lines of unfortunate circumstances just seems a little too light for me, though this is just my opinion.

Julian Letterlough/Julio Gonzalez is one that isn't on most people's radar. Great fight that was on FNF a few years back.

Fair enough. I found it more amusing than tragic, myself.

Not at all. Not at all. I find it amusing when complete trash get what comes their way...irrespective of their profession.
