Either you looked that up (which I did to set the question) or you are a boxing genius. Yes, Tom Collins twice flooring Dennis Andries on the way to a 15-round points win for the British light-heavyweight title in March 1982 at Bloomsbury.

I wouldn't call myself a genius but those back issues of Boxing News I ordered are starting to pay off

Well done guys, I didn't have a clue.

Boxing Monthly fan I am, but both publications are great.

On the subject of Boxing mags try Boxing Monthly, Steve Farhood and Graham Houston are excellent writers and the magazine covers a wide range of Boxing topics around the world.

Love Boxing News and Boxing Monthly.

Houston and Farhood excellent. Shame BM is not bigger though. Only takes me a train journey home to read it. Wish they could have more pages. You know, make it a big glossy like other sporting mags, ie (Golfing Monthly).

I often think the same thing, Dirt. Given they have a whole month to produce it, there's not that much in it. Boxing News sometimes cram in more in one week.

I thought WBC made the decision first, but I must be wrong..

'82 was same year that DK Kim died fighting Ray Mancini ( lost in the 14th I think ) so that might've been one of the reasons.

I think the last world title 15 rounder was Grove v Paez in 88?

That's a very, very good question. The WBC were the first to reduce world title fights to 12 rounds after the Ray Mancini-Duk-Koo Kim disaster in Vegas in November 1982 - and yet Collins faced Andries in March 1982 in the last British title fight to go 15 rounds. To answer your question, there were other British title fights scheduled for 15 rounds after Collins-Andries, but none of them went the full 15. In October 1982, George Feeney and Ray Cattouse slugged it out for 14 brutal rounds for the British lightweight title and a month later came the Duk-Koo Kim tragedy. The Board followed suit with the WBC and reduced their championship distance to 12.

On Boxing Monthly.

I used to love the comprehensive Results round up the used to publish - results from pretty much every fight that happened. Always used to follow the fortunes of the former champions of my youth (Berbick, Mguabi, Tubbs etc) they seemed to fight very regular.

I remeber when Julian Jackson came back the only column inches we would recieve would be on these results pages, eventually he came back to briefly capture the title.

I enjoy these Frontline diaries, but I think before them they used to give they used to do more previews (especially for fights that had just been made when going to press - amazingly Robinson vs Hamed and Ayers vs Dunne were only previewed in these small spaces). If the diaries were done during this time BM would have missed the preview.

What world title fight in the UK could of still been for 15 rounds, but the board said it had to be 12.

that was a 15-rounder.

I'm going to guess at Tate-Sibbo.
