can't claim to have seen a lot of your fights Derry but 2 things stand out to me. Firstly, that was a pasting you dished out to Andy Morris, well, no disrespect to Morris but it was a good fight but as I remember he was favourite and you whupped him good in a Manc-Scouse affair. Was that your best win as a pro?

And secondly, I have met Choi on a few occasions but thankfully never had a bat off him. Is he a really hard puncher?

I'm sure this is not a decision you have not taken lightly, so all the best with your future endeavours. And you are quite right as regards your health and family I think :TU:

sorry mate I knew I'd get them mixed up I'm a bugger with those two!!....I thought Foster was awesome verus Alex Arthur two years ago. I guess that's the game your in, not everybody can be a Lennox Lewis or a Joe Calzaghe but you've certainly had some good successes mate, and some experiences along the way. Nobody can say you didn't put it on the line. All the best :TU:

If you don't mind me asking, what was the issue with the Harry Ramagodi fight? You were clearly winning, and from where we were watching (saw it live) you were clearly up at 8. Why was it stopped? Did you think of appealling it with the BBBoC?

Yeah- a very very poor decision by that ref.

He also stopped Paul Samuels far too early on the same bill.

hope everything you decide to do outside of boxing goes well, youve had some great nights and tough fights. best to get out of the game early and with your health rather than too late like we often see in boxing these days. :box: :box:

remember you allways looking freakishly massive at the weight & looking a great prospect in the pro's & not doing to badly either.some really good kids leave alot of it in the ams, boiling down etc & achieve nish in the pro's,so be very proud!
your still young & have loads of time too find another niche.
glad too hear your closing the book & putting your family first as there's no point in waisting precious time, as your past your peak imo.

you've left your mark on the game & goodluck in the future :TU:

Fair play Derry but maybe a couple of years out to recharge those batteries that have been going for a long career might do you the world of good,I wouldnt be surprised to see a 28 year old well rested, recharged Derry Mathews doing well in a few years.
All the best whatever you do
