The many quotes like these make McCoy reach for the mute button on his remote control, & that makes McCoy unhappy as that is the most exercise he has done in months

Hatton has had more fights than Tszyu, Judah, Corley, Harris, Tackie & John Tickle lookalike Junior Witter

It's OK having documentaries about your life, with your name up in lights & 'special' treatment at your favourite football stadium, but Hatton has never mixed with the best in the division, & unlike the cats mentioned above has never faced a top 10 fighter, & with 32 fights to his name he really is pushing McCoys patience to the limit, & McCoy aint got the patience of angels

In the last 10 years all the top british light-welters have taken that step up in class at least once, Andy Holligan fought an unbeaten Julio Cesar Chavez in the lions den of Mexico, Shea Neary fought Micky Ward, Junior Witter fought a then unbeaten Zab Judah, Eamonn Magee fought Teddy Reid in only Magee's 8th pro fight & recently fought European champ Oktay Urkal, hell there is even talk of Alan Bosworth fighting Urkal aswell!

But what does annoy McCoy & take away the joy(you like da rhymes?) is every time somebody lasts the distance how SKY's analysts like Paul Dempsey & Nicky Piper(check above quotes) Barry "This kid's world class" McGuigan & Ian "Take that America!" Darke make excuses for their little cash cow

Just watch & listen people, every time a Hatton opponent lasts into the later rounds or even hears the final bell SKY tell us that they "are either superhuman or blocked them body shots all night" rather than admit that Hatton aint a concussive puncher

As for the light punchin lightweight also known as Aldo Rios, how can Nicky Piper say this guy is a threat? Maybe Pipers Benn beating was worse than McCoy feared

P.S. Hatton has already beaten the mighty midget, whose next, Arnold from Diffrent Strokes?

Couple of points.

Yes, you say Hatton is a hype train and I'm inclined to agree, comments from the Sky team do infuriate me aswell.

However, when has Ricky once said he's pleased with his opponents, when has he started to believe he is a geniune world champion.

He, unlike Calzaghe who has said stuff like Charles Brewer, Byron Mitchell were the true tests as they were robbed against Ottke (what fight was he watching), has never said anything about his opponents.

Also lets not forget that Vince Phillips, while I'm not saying he wasn't faded, was on a bit of role beating an undefeated fighter and also taking Shamba Mitchell mighty close, I would still rank Phillips in the same bracket as some of the worse 'world' class fighters you mentioned. He also beat Magee who showed he was fringe world class with his display against Urkal.

Its a bit of dilemma as far as Hatton is concerned, his fighting style indicates he's probably going to only have about 5 more good years left in him, and also he cuts. By having hard fight after hard fight its shortening his career, its Kind of nice for Hatton to earn a bit of dough before giving any major risks. Imagine were he would be had the ref made the correct decision and stopped his fight with Thaxton. As you said, those British guys lost these fights as any of the fighters profited from the loss, Holligan maybe because it was a legend - it cost/costing the rest an awful lot.

I know Rios is a poor choice, but given Hatton's injury in his last fight I forgiving him this time.

McCoy, I understand your patients is running out, but I think he's being brought along nicely, he's 24. And he hasn't won a major world belt. Lets wait another 12 months, during this time the promotor, trainer AND FIGHTER (for the first time) has said there will be some major fights for him.

McCoy, have you thought if Sky hadn't hyped him, then maybe you wouldn't have written this thread. If it was for Sky saying this and that about him, then we'll all be saying 'don't rush him'.

If Hatton was a World champion and fighting Rios then I would proably be starting a thread similar to this, but its only been about 15 months since he first stepped it up and Phillips was a decent challenge.

Miguel Cotto started his career fighting ex champions like Bezan and Juuko, recently though his opponents have been of a lower level, he's at a somewhat similar stage to Hatton - yet I don't see anyone saying he needs harder fights.

SKY have always talked complete crap, Nicky Piper has no clue and Spencer Oliver just agrees with whoever makes the points first, i like Dempsey he is a good enough presenter. Duke McKenzie was a class analyist and BBC scored a coup when they poached him, Jim Watt and Barry McGuigan are alright at least they speak there minds. Ian Darke is a good enough commentator and he has to justify the fighters he gets paid to ante-up i mean who didn't feel short changed when Tyson blew out Etienne in under a minute?! Darke desperately tried to sell the mismatch to the fans afterwards by proclaiming "Well thats the unpredictability of Tyson!" The one who infuriates me the most is Glenn McCrory, he has nothing of his own to say he merely twists what Darke has just said and says the same thing! How can you take a man seriously when after Calzaghe's blow out of Tocker Pudwill he comes up with this fight gem: "He knew what he had to do and that's what he did, he did it well"...I rest my case

I think it's cool how the guys from Monty Python are still around. They all commentate for Sky.

Lol, i was going to say...how old is this thread?! I don't remember saying any of that lot SKY is still a hype machine though, can't wait to see what they have to say about Calzaghe-Veit...."Veit is much improved since his 1 round blow out, he won a majority decision over world rated Jose Guerrero..."

someone told me people on sky are told what to say to hype a fighter. you basically have to read lines written by people. if the sky panel dont complain about this match they need to be replaced.
