Its been lauded in todays newspaper and wondered what people take on would be, obviously this would be in place of RJJ should he lose to green or after that fight should hopkins beat RJJ

i think haye would stop him because he's too big and too strong

Physical mismatch, Haye for all his fallibilities would hit too hard and stop the old codger.

Its crazy to think that around 100 years ago Hopkins at 13st and 6'1 would have constituted a decent sized heavy (Jack Dempsey wasn't far off those dimensions!)

In this day and age it is inconceivable that a man of that stature could compete on even terms at heavyweights - although Thomaz Adamek's success against Golota may encourage a few to give it a go..

I think this will happen, and I think it could be intriguing... Never write off Bhop. Everyone thought Joe would simply overwhelm him and I even heard the word "mismatch" being muted about that one (at their stages of their career).

I never anticipated Adamek to smash Golota in quite the way he did. Walking on to punches will hurt no matter what the size difference.

He took some meaty shots from Mike Mollo in 2008. He looked slow and open that night, but he looked like his chin was still strong.

Hopkins is a sensible enough guy, he would calculate if he can take Haye before signing to fight him. Although at this stage, he doesn't care about legacies anymore. He might feel that kind of exposure will give Haye, Golden Boy - and therefore him.... more money.

Without a doubt, was just replying to you when you mentioned Hopkins wouldn't fight a bigger man.

i think adamek was always a massive light heavy, seemed to be outgrowing the weight in his WBC title fights, so it was natural for him to move up to cruiser, where he peaked. and when he proved to be a damn good cruiser with no paydays, it was natural for him to move up to heavy. that looks like a good move, with haye - former cruiser, albeit big cruiser - holding a title.

i see hopkins as a much smaller fighter than adamek, what with him being mostly a career middleweight.

is it just a rumour, what with haye going with golden boy, and with hopkins having a "3 fight plan" (ornelas, jones jr, haye)? is it just a fantast fight for hopkins or has haye actually acknowledged it? i don't see hopkins being a big enough fight for haye. haye will want vitali klitschko.

just remember:

paul williams should fight hopkins
carl froch should fight hopkins
tomasz adamek should fight hopkins
lucian bute (probably) should fight hopkins
andre "jab & grab" ward (probably) should fight hopkins
david haye - despite having to face mandatory challenger ruiz and a rematch with valuev, and owing sauerland 3 fights - should fight hopkins

in other words anyone coming off a big win between welter and heavy (provided they are a small heavy) who offers some material or historical gain for hopkins, should fight hopkins. regardless of their mandatory committments and committments to whatever TV network, they should still fight hopkins.

I disagree thought his performance against pavlik was one of the best of his career.

As someone said about someone else the other day, just enjoy him while he's here, for he'll be a long time gone.

Yes Haye is bigger, but he also telegraphs his shots and has wide punches and fights with his hands low. Hopkins stands a shot of exposing those flaws and schooling Haye for that reason. Hes probably too old to pull it off now but thats been said about him many times, never write Bernard off

i worry for hopkins health if this fight happens. haye is just as fast as b-hop and he is a heavyweight. as soon as haye lands the right hand.. b hop will be in hospital

No matter how shit it made the fight as a spectacle, Hopkins wouldnt let Haye land that right. If it meant holding, running backwards even getting out the ring and sitting in the crowd form rounds 5-7 I just dont see him walking onto anything. Its one thing saying "when haye lands" its another thing actually landing that shot. There have been far weaker opponents that bernard Hopkins able to avoid the shot for enough rounds.

Dont get me wrong im not saying Hopkins beats Haye, not by a country mile, but Hopkins has been around the block enough times to know what we know, and know not to get hit by the bomb.

probably be a shit fight, but it wont happen anyway.
