Yeah great finish, the KD punch didn't look that powerful but the ref had no choice but to stop it once Green jumped on him. Surely thats the end of the road for Jones now, there was talk of a fight with BHOP but i think that must be out of the question now.

Gotta fight back but Roy's legs were gone so he couldn't and he didn't have strength to hold onto Green, who's a good finisher. Such a sad end for a wonderful talent like Jones:-(

Kinda gets you questioning Calzaghes win over lil Roy???
Shocking punch resistance .. or lack of.
It hit him high above the ear .. not sure if it hurt him as such .. just smashed his equilibrium to bits.
Sad end to one of the greatest boxers of any generation.

Congrats to Green but sad to see.....
A prime RJJ would have made light work of Green.

wow no shit Mr T, RJJ was an absolutley unbelievable fighter on his day, Green is not bad but he would be sooo out of RJJ's league if they fought at each other's prime.

boxing is about timing, it's about handicapping, there are so many factors including weight. these guys knew what they were getting themselves in for, what they were risking, for this ozzie PPV fight.
will green face a "champion in his prime" i.e. adamek? or will he be too small at the weight and seeking easier, less punishing contests?

Is it just my Brit cynicism or do the Aussie/NZ/S. Africa commentators always sound like clueless hype merchants?
Don't throw Adam Smith back at me.

Jones has become an embarressment and should retire immeadiately.
B-Hop v this Jones Jr would not even be contest, Jones has embarressed himself enough over the last few years and the last thing he needs right now is a public beating at the hands of his arch enemy.
For those who are re-evaluating Calzaghe's win over Jones based on this loss to Green, give yourself's a shake. Calzaghe's win over a shot-to-sh*t Jones never meant anything to anyone with an IQ higher than 61. If your having problems comming to grips with that, you should probably be posting over on East Side Boxing.

In fairness even Smith if half decent compared to these commentators, they way they were talking was as if Jones was in his prime.
When I started watching I was thinking how good his jab was, then he got cught and gave the ref every opportunity to jump in as he wasn't fighting back

what do the Aussies and Irish have in common? They have the most biased Boxing commentators in the world.

Sad to see a legend getting splattered in a round like that, against a fighter he'd likely have toyed with 10 years ago. Seemed to be a shot around the back of the ear that did him, lord knows how he got up from that. Having a low left hand style, when your reflexes have slowed is a bad combo. Good refereeing from our man there.
A long flight back for Roy, but hopefully he's got his fortune safe & he can go fishing and fighting chickens.
Huge credit to Green though, he did the job on a massive stage in as dramatic style as possible. He's got the chance to earn his fortune now.

Yeah, Jones legs are just not what they were. Not just in his ability to absorb shots, but he is so easily gets trapped into a corner. In the glory days he used to hang by the ropes but move away, with such grace, just as the fighter would come in... it would embarress the fighter.
Now he just cannot move as quick. He still has some nice accuracy in his shots, but even when the commentators were raving about his jab - in the old days he would throw a one-two combination just as quick as the single jab now.
Jones was a tad unfortunate that this shot caught him in the right spot. Howard Foster was bang on with the stoppage, but Jones was showing some good bravery and was preventing Green hitting him clean - but the fight was over.... and knowing how Jones has recovered from being hurt before.... he would have gone into a survival shell. Jones took some meaty uppercuts after pretty well.
It was a silly match up for a tune up.... well it showed Jones had some of his confidence back. Green never lost a world title in the ring.

Was this meant to be a tune up?? I hadn't really followed the story, but guess you're refering to Hopkins...which wouldn't have interested me at all - 20 years ago maybe.
Green is a monster, he was always going to be coming at Roy relentlessly for 12 rounds, and with the weight and punch he was always going to be a very live one for Roy. That was never a tune up, more like Australia's biggest fight in years.

Yeah I pity the Ausie boxing fans, having to put up with hysterical commentary like that all the time. Sounded like they were about to have an accident over their monitors.

Thought Jones could have been given a little more time but will never blame a referee for being too early rather than too late. Jones didn't have it in him to grab hold of Green and tie him up and everytime he stepped back his legs were all over the show.
Jones never same after the Ruiz fight and time to hang 'em up. Fair play to Green but he'd have pretty much been cannon fodder for a Jones near his peak.

The punch didn't look heavy at all, and the manner in which Jones reacted is incredibly concerning.
I sincerely hope Floyd Mayweather has watched Jones's career plummet and legacy slowly sinking. While it's true that Jones's fall is mostly to do with the fact he was so incredibly physically gifted he never had to learn the techniques which might have allowed him to fight into old age, where Mayweather has, I think that the more pertinent lesson is that of a fighter who might have become a legend by fighting other great fighters and taking on challenges that would stretch him to his limits. Instead, he wasted these years by fighting along the path of least resistance, and then realised when he lost that his whole career was based on (de facto, in Jones's case) unbeaten record, rather than beating great fighters in great fights. Jones realised that his legacy went from potential all time great -- and top five at 175 -- to probably not even top 20 at 175. He fought on in a desperate attempt to get that back, but it was already gone.

Legacy shmegacy.... you only had to watch Jones at his peak to know you were watching an all-time great and the guy beat Hopkins and Toney, fair enough no rematches but hey, he beat them both and they're certain Hall Of Famers and what he did against Ruiz was pretty special considering he went straight up from light-heavy.
