Seems to be a great deal of "highly touted" prospects around at the moment.

I can't think of a time when there has been this many.

"leading the way" , so to speak, are the Olympians, then there are several other highly spoken-of people moving up the ranks.

Pretty much every live show has at least one fight featuring a young fighter who is mentioned as being "the next big thing."

Looking at a coming soon Maloney show, no less than 10 of the left collumn fighters are currently undefeated with several fights under their belts. All "prospects?" Companies such as VIP seem to be based around staging shows with popular (usually undefeated) hometown fighters against journeymen.



It will be interesting to see how it pans out over the next few years.

At some point of of these lads MUST have to end up fighting each other- and as such there should be some really exciting fights on the cards.

i dont think theres more than ever i just think the amatur game has had a lot put into it in the last 4/5 years and as a result the names of the ams have been heard more because theyve been more successful on the world scene.

That and we don't have that many top tier fighters to concentrate on.

Maloney show was meant to have Sykes v Barrett for English superfeather but Barrett pulled out which is a shame.

there are so many good prospects. degale, gavin, groves, saunders, swifty smith, price, quigg

Quigg impressed me very much. He had a real hard edge about him.

George Groves is the man that will fulfil the promise.

Degale for me. I can see him doing very well indeed.

These days, anybody who's unbeaten after 6 or 7 fights is labelled a prospect. On the Irish scene, Michael Sweeney could be one and I liked the look of JJ McDonagh and Jamie Conlan on their debuts, but very early days to gauge much more on either.

And of course someone like Steve Barnes would be included. It is just an exercise to fill in the tv slots when you have limited undercards
