I'm extremely disappointed with that Yank Salita.

I came on here tipping him to give Khan a test and he was crap. Anyone with decent amateur pedigree, as Salita has, should know better than to go hanging his chin up in the air again and again. Total rubbish.

I'm also a bit unimpressed with Amir jumping in like that. As far as I'm concerned you should ALWAYS take a bit of a look at your opponent first. Has he learnt nothing???????

This fight said a lot more about Salita than it said about Khan.

Unimpressed with Khan jumping in? Has he learn't nothing? It looked to me that he's learnt to strike when the irons hot. Would he have been critisized if he'd took his time and did take a look? Can hear it now....'The Prescott fight has made him gun shy, he's to cautious etc'. Khan took 'a bit of a look' and 'a bit' is all he needed to do the job...Which he did. Had you ever seen Salita fight prior to last night NEBF?

If so, I am surprised you had so much faith in him - I have always thought he looked distinctly average with a heavily padded record.

...and so it proved on the night.

I would recommend watching fighters in the future before backing them as dangerous opponents - a handful of amateur titles does not necessarily mean a fighter will go on to become a world class pro.

Salita was cannon fodder. Plain and simple.

a few seconds that' all, and they weren't the best few seconds either. Take your point about amateur titlesnot making u a world class pro. I'm just basing it on my own knowledge of boxers I know and suggesting that I would certainly have expected more competence from a golden gloves champ and US under 19s Champ.

i'm sure in the 70s and 80s I would have seen that competence also. Other better paying higher profile sports have weakened the pool in boxing I think.

and as regards not making you a "world class" fighter as you say, I agree...but I wasn't looking for a "world class" showing...i was merely expecting somebody to have a bit (lot) more speed and where-with-all than to get bombed out quick style without even landing one single shot.

As regards being disapointed, admittedly slightly, with Khan, no amount of cheap shot ridicule from populist jerks like Des1 make a difference to me. Khan faced another unknown entity and was largely dismissive of his own obligation to protect his chin. Sound familiar. And if he had shipped a big one, no doubt the "experts" like Duck-egg Des1 would be on here saying he shouldn't have been so careless. To pounce on a man in he way Khan did, suggests to me that a) the man was NOT word class, ....b)Khan KNEW the man was NOT world class.....or both........which beggars the question, why the bloody hell is it being sold as World Title PPV boxing at 15 quid a pop. Simples.
