Arguello would have won, but as circumstances dictated - everything is void. Sorry. :OhYes:

For the record, Whitaker was rated over Arguello even after he consolidated the titles. #1 Pernell.....#2Alexis.....and that's the way it was.

Belt holders are a dime a dozen. #1 fighters are a rare breed.

....they were 1:1 Pernell KO'd Alexis Arguello simply could not continue the fight.......Alexis to his credit then won a controversial split decision over Pernell by way of some well compensatod officiating.

that's the way it was.......These are the facts of the matter. Don't make it out to be more than it is. Or people will accuse you of exaggerating which we all know is bad form.

Arguello was winning every round when the ref stopped it at the last second due to a cut. Whitakers contraversial win.

Actually depending on the official there was a mix as to who was ahead at the time of the stoppage. Which is why Pernell put a stop to such nonsense.

The MultiBelt champion Arguello was stopped by the #1 fighter of the season. At the end of the season the belted champion was rated under Pernell. Now we all know why the actual events were erased. In order to up the "propaganda" factor. But facts are stubborn things.

And these are the facts of the matter.

FAct Pernell #1 Based on his record which happened to be the best of the best of the season. Alexis= Also ran, defeated by TKO by Pernell.
