Adam Booth: "There is a Simple Answer to" Klitschko's Style

From the Guardian:
David Haye's trainer, Adam Booth, has said that he knows how to beat Vitali Klitschko. The Ukrainian retained his WBC heavyweight title in Bern last night.
Klitschko produced a workmanlike performance to beat Kevin Johnson on a unanimous points verdict. The American, who had not lost before, could not find a way to deal with Klitschko's size. He was forced on to the back foot from the first round, as Klitschko's long arms pushed him on to the ropes.
Booth said: "It was a typical Vitali performance. He does the same thing over and over again and everybody that he fights is unable to pose a question of his style. He plants his feet in range, uses his height to lean back out of the way of hitting coming back that may have substance on it and uses his strong arms to push so repetitively.
"He does the same thing every second of every round of every fight and it amazes me that these so-called elite heavyweights cannot figure out that there is a simple answer to that style – to be able to land your punches."
Haye was scheduled to fight Vitali's brother, Wladimir, earlier this year but the Briton was forced to withdraw because of injury.

Before last night i didn't give Haye a chance against Vitali, but now i'm not so sure. Vitali was there to be hit.

Well, I am sure! Haye would beat Vitali or Wladamir! Yesterday's fight with Johnson, was a woeful spectacle of a title fight! Klitschko was even tentative. If Johnson to a chance he may have been able to do something, but he didn't!
Both were so apprehensive!

How do you look good against a guy like Johnson who is fighting only to survive, not throwing any punches, and only focusing on defense? Lets not forget Vitali won every second of every round, while Haye scraped away with a sleep inducing close MD over a much slower lumbering and easy to hit opponent.
If Johnson were to have actually engaged and opened himself up as Haye would have to do to beat Vitali, then he would have been stopped. Johnson also has a much better chin than Haye.

Haye's simple answer to Klitschko's style: running away before being caught up with and ko'd

It really does concern me that any trainer would think that there is a simple answer to Klitschko's style. If is was so very easy, he wouldn't have gone so many fights without losing. Sure, the quality of his opposition has been terrible, but he's been the only one since Lewis retired that's been able to dominate it.

Sadly I think that would be just about right :(
Haye really disapointed me with his Valuev showing .. I`d guess he`d try to get his hands on Klitschkos title the same way

I think this is more media play than anything else. Haye and Booth I'm sure know that it would be very tough trying to beat either Klitschko. You can see flaws, though, in the way Vitali fights. He offers the same punches in every single fight, the same angles, his head is always in the same place, etc. -- the weaknesses are in plain sight, but no-one has been able to take advantage of them. Haye's got the speed, the punch and, perhaps, the skills, but his chin and size might just mean he's not good enough.

It's certainly not media talk. Booth said it: Klitschko only does the same one thing over and over, and there is one simple technique to land your punches.
that's what he said. it's difficult to imagine how he could have been misquoted on that.

That's not what I mean. I'm saying Booth is making it sound easier than it is, but he's knows it's not so easy. Yes, seeing the flaw is simple, yes, the technique may be simple, but I'm sure he knows executing it in a fight will not be simple. We'll see when the fight happens, if it happens.

Well, that's fair enough I guess.
I'm concerned, however, that he would even say that.
I guess it says a great deal about their confidence.
i wonder, though, how long the Klitschkos can keep going through these no-hopers before there's enough demand for the Haye fight to guarantee it.
I think that if Haye looks impressive in his next fight, whoever that might be, he'll be virtually guaranteed a shot.

all i can say is WOW. did you not notice that haye BROKE his right hand in the 2nd?

you expect him to keep using his right?? haye beat valuev left handed. haye hardly ever uses his left hand in his whole career. haye will destroy that robot klitschko.

vitali is a robot and so slow. haye will destroy him. is vitali really that powerful?? them right hands he threw the other night didn't have half the power haye posesses. vitali has an iron chin and a good jab. haye ko 8

Johnston was only defending and rolloing away to his right, meaning hardly any of Klitschko's rights landed flush.
Haye wouldn't do likewise.

haye won't last three rounds with vitali. keep talking yourself into the payday adam before the gravy train comes to a shuddering halt.
if haye tries his lord of the dance routine against vitali he is going to get whacked out by a big overhand right pretty quickly.

As much as I like David Haye I just can't see him beating either of the Klitschko brothers if it happens next year. Beating a slow, ponderous Valuev unspectacularly is one thing, the Klitschko's are another. He won't beat them fighting the way he did in Germany and he won't beat them throwing bombs as I see him shipping even more powerful ones back.

Have always thought Vlads chin made home the easier brother to face, but after yet another unimaginative boxing display, I am very confident Haye can do the job.
For all those that continue to refer to the Valuev fight as a template to future fights, just plain crazy. The first time he fights that way in his entire career and u guys think he's forever going to run. Personally I didn't think he would have the discipline or stamina to execute that very game plan. But what he showed was his ability to completely go against his nature and stick to a winning game plan.
So I'm sure Booth and Haye have got a strategy for Vit and I'm sure they will be able to stick to it. We also know Haye has more speed and potentialy more power than Vit has ever faced.
This fight will only get more winnable for Haye as the months pass by. Stamina is the only issue for me in this fight.
Haye to win mid rounds due to Vit cut.

Did you any of you Haye cheerleaders actually see how pathetic he looked in barely beating the lumbering oaf Valuev? Old man Holyfield did a better job than Haye, so did Larry Donald for that matter. Haye might beat Vitali, since he can punch and anything can happen, but based on the actual "evidence" that exists it seems far more likely that Haye will get picked apart over the course of 7 or 8 rounds. Unless he pulls a Johnson/Ibragimov and fights scared, therefore he might just lose 120-108.

I guess only time will tell if Booth is right but I struggle to see David beating Vitali.
Haye's hands have been bad for many years now and they are so fragile if he don't get you out of there with the first few bombs, there is every chance they will go as they did with Valuev and he ain't keeping Vitali off by 4 or 5 punches a round, it just aint happening.
Vitali closes the range so quickly for me and say what you like about him apart from Lewis he has never looked like losing (forget Byrd it was an injury and he had won every round).
He barely takes a shot in anger and some of those punches he hit Johnson with, would for me, have taken David out.
I genuinely struggle to see any result other than a Klitschko win here and probably before half way and possibly a lot earlier than that.
But I would love to be proved wrong and fully accept its becoming boring that no one can get anywhere near him and would love to see Haye take him out in style.

You should probably read at least some of the other posts in a thread before writing your own in future to avoid embarrassing yourself.
I agree with Asterix in that Booth is just saying beating Vitali will be easy to get people talking/press writing about how that can possibly be the case. He knows it's not easy because as disjointed and unbalanced Vitali is he extremely awkward, busy & tough.
It might have been Larry Merchant that pointed out that Vitali is so strong that he beats up opponents with arm punches (which is why is does blast opponents out) so he is never out of position and very vunerable. I liked the way he backed up and kept Arreola on the end of his punches and i expect he'd try to do the same with Haye.

Vitali is toilet.
Sanders-Williams-Gomez-Johnson-Peter-Arreola-Johnson.
A who's who of fat, meak, unfit garbage.
Vitaly Klitschko is the most over-rated heavyweight of ALL time.
He's dire.
He's tentative, flat footed, punches from the elbow like a novice, has no lateral movement, moves his head back in straight lines, has slow hands, no variety on his shots and generally is useless.
If David Haye throws fast straight punches in clusters he will decimate him.
Frank Bruno would have beaten him, stuck him on the end of the jab and cracked him with the right hand.
Vitaly Klitschko is a giant in stature and it is that, and that alone which has got him his current kudos. Because he is terrible.
He's the number #1 heavyweight in 2009, but Haye better hurry up before someone else summons some gumption and takes his head off.

Good analogy.
I cannot believe this fraud hasn't been smashed up before now.
There are so many ways to beat him, just every opponent has lacked the stomach to execute.
Him v Valuev would have been interesting. Note, I don't say exciting, I say interesting.
