If Roach really thinks Khan can go as high as MW, then I have to know what weight Amir walks around at?

Clearly, in the past when Khan has aaid he walks around at like 143lbs is rubbish!

tbh he will have to, he is only going to get bigger with age in terms of weight, look at de la hoya once a lightweight now eventually became a middleweight, fornicating mayweather was originally a super feather i think the likelyhood is eventually kahn will be forced to be atleast a welterweight

i was a super feather but now im a cruiser , but it dont mean shit , i got lazy and put on weight , if i was training like the top fighters id still be no more than a light welter at the very heaviest , if he went up that weight it would be because he was fat , simple . hed be 21 lbs heavier than he fights at now , the only way that will happen is through bad training habits , i know people such as pbf and pacman have gone up in weight but its easier through the lower weights and a lot is determined by height , how tall is khan ? 5ft 8 or so , hed be quite small for a middleweight and would be giving a lot away consider that froch is around the right height for his weight at super middle which is 6ft , if kahn was 5ft 8 and just one division lower it would be quite bad , this is utter rubbish , he would need to be exceptionally good to even attempt it in my opinion , i know its not impossible but i really cant see it happening .

damien, froch is super middle and noone is saying kahn is going that far, and kahns not 5,8 he's 5'10 which would be considered a tall welter, calzaghie was only an inch or so bigger it is very plausable that kahn will end up atleast a light middle

no your missing my point , but if khan is 5 ft 10 then its not as bad at all , im 5ft 9 and was considered very tall when i boxed but as i said that was at super feather , at cruiser on the other hand if i boxed id be very very small , all i was saying is that he would be small if he was a middle weight , ok if hes 5 ft 10 hes not overly small but still , i dont believe it will happen , ever.

Khan has the frame for a MW in the next 5-6years as he gets stronger and as he gets stronger his chin/power will improve

yeah fair point i dnt necessarily think he would be a good middlweight, i personally see kahn in similar mould to de la hoya maybe ending up at light middle and being quite content there, but thats significantly down the line,if he could carry his speed up with him though his speed would be even more effective against bigger slower middleweights, and kahn looks to have good power so it could be a case if he gets skilled enough "you cant hit what you cant see"

Looking through the boxrec top 10 middleweights, only Pavlik would be a lot taller than him. A couple would be noticeably shorter, and most would be about the same height.

I don't think he will end up there but that isn't because he's too short.

Tony Pep was a 6ft super-feather .. is anybody trying to say he could been a legit middleweight?

De La Hoya was floored a few times when he first turned pro at super-feather. His chin proved very reliable as he moved further up the weights. The difference between the two is that De La Hoya was clearly starving himself to get down to that weight .. Khan always maintained he was comfortable making it. And when De La Hoya was floored he was never seriously hurt .. Khan has been all wobbly legged each time .. and snoozing in the last instance.

But the weight of punch will also improve and the strength of the opponent.

At Middle he will get crushed these guys walk around at 13st plus.

Always really expected Khan to end up at light-middle as he continues to develop physically, so 160 isn't that big a push. Khan is 5'10 and still filling out. He's also got Manny's strength coach working with him so i'd not be surprised to see him competing at middleweight one day.

You can stop getting hit on it though. I don't see any reason why Khan can't move through the weights and upto 160

You can't improve your skull/chin thickness. But you can surround it with a thicker stronger neck, stronger legs. Then you tuck your chin, keep your hands up and make less mistakes. You can also get your body used to taking blows from hard sparring

Do you really think the Holyfield who fought at Cruserweight could have taken the same punnishment from Lennox/Tyson/Bowe? BEcause against Cooper he was close to being ko'd when he was a smaller/weaker HW

What about the 135lb Delahoya who was getting floored at Lightweight, yet showed a great chin at Welter and 154lbs? Did his chin not get better?

i get it! khan will dump the WBA title in order to fight...

Kelly Pavlik!

Can't wait.

maybe roach has got a bit carried away by pac's success up in the weights. perhaps he is banking on catchweights, khan coming up catching "hollow men" coming down?

Khan does have the frame for moving up weights I think he look's a lot more sturdy at Light Welter than he did at Lightweight he ahs bigger legs as well I really do think he will absorb a punch better

He will put on weight naturally and will have to go up, so I don't agree with your post at all. Hardly anyone weighs the same at 21 as they do at 31.

no they dont , your right , but thats usually because their less active , well that would be the biggest factor in my opinion anyway , when you hit 25 , in a settled relationship , maybe a couple of kids etc , weight will come on , and yes that happens naturally , but it doesnt mean that because it happens naturally its a good thing , not at all , people tell me i look better at the weight im at now , but no doubt about it in my mind that as a ex super feather id get fucked over seriously at cruiser , ive fought at white collar as a cruiser but im the promotor so im not stupid , id only go in with someone thats not gonna hammer me ,im not saying i take gimme's just not people who are 6ft 3 and 14 stone , not cos of anything other than im too slow with the weight added on , kahn too would be slowed down and would be getting hit with bigger harder punches , the weight difference makes a huge difference , i assure you , i could probably drop kahn with 1 right hand , ( if i could land it on his chin which maybe would be quite difficult admittedly ) but i dont train or anything , im sure that a quick middleweight that carried power would be too much for kahn at his own weight let alone if he went in at middle , imagine for example the likes of say someone like kirkland lands a bomb on kahns chin , kirkland would spark him clean out even if they weighed the exact same weight , which if kirkland continues his career after jail , middleweight is where i would expect him to be campaigning , that is the sort of guy that he could be facing , pavlik wouldnt be at middleweight by that point imo. any way im rambling on here . end of the day , if kahn went upto middle it would be a recipe for disaster that could see khan hurt badly , i like to support the brits in world title fights etc and honestly hope im proved wrong but i seriously cant see it . khan should never go above welter i think , in the interest of his own health . as i said i hope im proved wrong but dont think thats likely. id love someone to dig this out in 5 years and say i told you so , but we will see.
