Anyone know what he's up to these days?

I seem to recall that his name would appear on Matchroom shows but that he never boxed. He seemed to just drift away from the sport. Now he was a real talent. Big US & British amateur star, two-time Olympian, IBO super-middleweight champion. I do recall that he had quite a temper and was often difficult to deal with. It would be interesting to know what he's doing with himself now.

Adrian was a nice guy, I related to his attitude, not everyone else did!! remember him bashing up Darren Dyer in st monicas gym once, I was embarrassed. but good mover fast hands, he even bit a guy once ,

yeah I remember that one, a title fight as well if I remember rightly.

i don't know what he's up to these days. but with him doing so badly in some of his later fights, many of us may have lost track as to what a terrific talent he was. he was surely potentially the best british light middle from the late '90s until jamie moore came on the scene.

he was an aggressive southpaw with really fast hands, and i believe a canadian accent. but the winky wright fight ruined him, apparently.

I remember the fight with Bonnamie for the Commonwealth Middle Title, he turned vampire in that and was disqualified for biting in the 12th round. What a madman, they said before the fight he had discipline issues and was difficult to work with. The thing was he was doing well in the fight and could have won it.

that year he won the abas i thought he was awesome&thought the same in the pros,then he met winky wright,that fight knocked alot out of him i believe....remember him beating a over the hill Lloyd Honeyghan aswell...

recall his fight with john mbosco and he lookd great. recall calzaghe-delaney around the same time and i felt that dodson was by far the better talent. then again i didn't know what the eff i was watching with calzaghe, as i didn't know you were allowed to punch like that. obviously, what different careers they went on to have, and what different levels of toughness and punch resistence in their overall careers. yet i always like to rate dodson on potential, as opposed to the way he turned out.

dodson really had a go of it vs winky wright. wright's sides were red from the body shots, i recall. dodson took on a quality champ and went for it. but dodson was far too inexprienced, punched himself out on that impossible to breach guard and got picked off for a long painful beating. it might have been a bad move, with winky considered a light puncher.

I heard he's a Mini cab driver now
I knew Adrian from a young age, he use to box as a Am for St Pancras aba the same as my self, i remember him Sparring with a Guy called Donovan Holdness a (Super Heavy Weight that won the ABA's that year) Putting him over it wouldnt matter who he sparred he'd try and take ther Head off and would'nt hold back when he had them going... He was Hard to work with he was ALWAYS arguing with trainer's. I think it came to the stage that No one would work with him, he'd come in train him self ask Taxi driver's etc to spar, imo thats where he went wrong. He was he's own wrost Enemy would'nt listen to any body.... I use to really look up to him as a Kid, he was diferent Class but did'nt produce it in the Pro's.... i see him a couple of months back doing Track work over Regents Park.. He's big Now looked Cruiser-Heavy Weight he's Legs are MASSIVE

I forgot u he boxed out of st pancras Martin,can u remember a lad called paul brady i think..(schoolboy boxer be 2-3yrs older than u)wot become of him???

I use to hang about with Paul for a few Years, till i was about 14-15.. shame i remember him beating stocking,spelling& colin brown....think he won schoolboys at derby 92 0r 94 beat one of the toohey brothers who boxed out of gemini(liverpool)

Your spot on Derby 91-92, Boxed for England went over to Russia won twice over there.....

I seem to recall an incident with Dodson at the Lynn boxing club many years ago. He'd won the ABAs with them c.1990. He was sparring with Chris Okoh at the time I think, and the trainer at the time asked Dodson to take it easy. Dodson took offence and started arguing with the trainer and an altercation ensued. It went before the Lynn committee who then decided that the trainer should be dismissed and not Adrian. The trainer was Keith Scott I believe who then went to Hollington ABC.
I guess the Lynn wanted to keep Dodson, who had won the Golden Gloves in NYC the previous year and then taken the ABA title so he was their star boxer. Dodson was a notoriously hard sparrer and KOd plenty of lads in the gym. He just had that crazy US gym attitude that every spar should be a war.

The next time I see him, I will get an update on him

I thought Adrian was a bit spiteful in sparring, but Ive been friends with his dad a long while now and he is a nice guy and terrific coach. He did a great job with Mark prince.

Just a note for Boxing mad. I thought Dodson was at the Lodge not Lynn. ?? I could be wrong.

niether st pancras i think maybe Lynn definitlly not lodge....

Does anyone remember a young adam smith getting in the ring with dodson and doing a bit of sparring with him after slagging him off?it was bloody hilarious I remember that much.

He was at the Lynn, then moved to St Pancras, which was the club he was at when qualifying for the 1992 Olympics. In New York he boxed for the Empire Sporting Club, which is based in Gleason's Gym. He won the 1989 New York Golden Gloves with Empire, under the tutelage of Bob Jackson who continued as his trainer when Adrian turned pro.

Must of been 1 of Many, i didnt know Bob Jackson but i did knew 3-4 of his other one's as a Pro...

I didn't realize that the Honeyghan fight was on that bill, it was a good win for Dodson, even if Honeyghan was at the end of his career, he was coming off a good win over Adamson.
But Dodson was just to young and powerful for the former champ.
