Your vote and why

Calzaghe gets my vote.

Why? both fought Some good names early on .. and some good names when they were clearly passed their best. The both fought some mediocre challengers .. but Calzaghe won against all of them - Lewis was knocked out .. twice

No doubt Calzaghe will lose the poll though.

Calzaghe had better boxing skills, better boxing brain and a better chin. Lewis had bigger balls, a bigger punch and a better division. Pretty close but Joe was more talented.

Like Bowe and a prime Tyson? He barely fought a prime Holyfield, who was 36 when he fought Lewis

x2 Calzaghe has achieved nowhere near what Lewis did and the thing about Lewis he wanted the big fights right from the off unlike Calzaghe. Lewis by far.

Not necessarily when you were expected to win the 2 fights you got KO'd in, easily

I don't think Lewis getting sparked by McCall and Rahman, who he didn't even bother preparing for, showed much character.

I love both fighters but for me lewis wins by a mile,he fought better opponents over a longer period and held " THE WORLD TITLE",yes he got ko'd but to comeback the way he did shows real quality.

Bowe never wanted a part of him which is why he was stripped of the WBC title, Tysons prime was considered over before Lewis won a professional title, Holyfield fight happened when it made sense.

That doesn't matter, upsets happen in every form of sport (ie. Manchester United lose to teams they are expected to beat) and it's not about who you lose to, it's about how you deal with it and Lewis dealt with it easily, a lesser man would have fallen apart and never recovered his nerve.

No disrespect to Calzaghe who is a fine fighter in his own right but I just rate Lewis higher because he's had more questions asked about him and answered them easily.

Lewis every day of the week. Calzaghe's career was frustrating, and his best win was against a 20 fight novice. Lewis took on all comers, defended against most of the big names of his era and avenged both his losses. There are few question marks surrounding Lewis whereas with Calzaghe there were plenty.

Lennox Lewis fought far more dangerous opponents than Joe, away from home most of the time.

Calzaghe's best 10 wins

Klitschko - 10 - Bika
Tyson - 9 - Jones Jnr.
Mercer - 8 - Reid
Bruno - 7 - Woodhall
Ruddock - 6 - Brewer
Briggs - 5 - Lacy
Golota - 4 - Mitchell
Tua 3 - Eubank
Rahman II 2 - Kessler
Holyfield - 1 - Hopkins
If those were pound for pound contest made at the respective points in their careers those fighters were at, whose resume would win - I'd back Tyson, Mercer, Briggs, Golota, Holyfield with confidence, and make a strong argument for Ruddock, Bruno and Klitschko (though he's dog-turd him versus Bika woudl be the ugliest fight EVER)too. I'll give Kessler the benefit of the doubt and Eubank would prove too awkward for Tua. And I've not included several who would match well against Calzaghe's numerous left-over victories.

I do think Joe gets some undue stick and it's very easy to have a go at him. But it's Big Len for me.

Its debateable where Lennox's "home" was.I would imagine he was far more comfortable in the U.S where he chose to train,and then live in retirement.His losses,of course,came in England and South Africa

Some people need their heads read

The question is "who was better", not "who achieved more". You wouldn't know that, reading most of the responses in this topic. Lewis obviously achieved more. Calzaghe was more talented, though, imo.

Really? I don't think Calzaghe was more talented, he looked so akward at times, flapping away, with amateurish technique, couldnt fight well on the inside.

Talent wise I think Lewis was superior, he threw all punches naturally, correctly and with power. Calzaghe looked good going backwards and forwards throwing straight shots but his all round game wasnt comparable to Lewis's.

The only thing I would give to Calzaghe over Lewis is fitness, Calzaghe rarely (if ever) gassed in any of his fights and that was a testament to his training.
