I though Vann had retired from Boxing and was surprised to see him ref a heavyweight bout I think it was on the Klitschko v Johnson undercard. I came on here and saw he's been reffing in Ireland as well, so can anyone give me the official line?
cheers and merry xmas everyone.

yeah thats correct. Bit of a waste from a UK point of view, he is still a top ref and it is brillant watching him dancing around the ring. Sometimes he almost looks like he wishes he was in the fight

Think the age limit in England is 65. I think each case should be taken on its merits. Vann can clearly still do a good job.

I would say yes if he was short of work but he's not-loads of gigs in Ireland and Europe to keep him going. He was even on a celebrity boxing competition here in Ireland and really enjoyed it by the looks of it. Great character

He's affiliated with the B.U.I. and a regular in Irish rings.

I think he can ref European bouts till he's 70 and there's no limit on World bouts. I remember the commentators saying something along those lines.

Mickey has plenty of other things to keep him busy. He works as a conditioning coach for the Leeds Rhinos Rugby League team and is training himself for a place on the British veterans athletic team.

Is this really true? 8) If so, do you have any details?

Mickey's probably the fittest referee out there. Compared to some of the gut buckets in the states.
