Best of a nation: Cuba (pros only)

Who is the best ever, pound-for-pound?

(To keep things easier to judge, let's keep it to those who had pro careers. Otherwise arguments about Stevenson and Savon will cloud the waters - after all, on amateur achievements, Jorge Luis Gonzalez > Lennox Lewis and Riddick Bowe)

Really tough choice. Napoles and Rodriguez were both brilliant fighters. Napoles accomplished more in terms of winning and holding titles, but Rodriguez probably fought slightly better competition

I put Chocolate as number 1. Outstanding record vs many ATGs and he was the recipient of several dodgy decisions.

I cannot believe that the great Kid Chocolate is not the best Cuban fighter ever. Are we nuts? No Cuban, maybe no other great welterweight, has beaten far superior opposition than the Cuban Hawk. Period.

I thought Gavilan deserved my vote, a little ahead of Napoles.

I think you mean Gavlin, right? Kid Chocolate didn't fight at welterweight. And while Gavlin fought an amazing string of top welterweights, I still go with Napoles, who was a dominant champion at welterweight for most of six years

Yeah, I meant Gavilan. The Cuban Hawk. The best fighter that Cuba ever had. He in my view, beat Sugar Ray Robinson twice. He also beat Billy Graham, Carmen Basilio, Eugene Hairston, Ike Williams, Beau Jack, Johnny Bratton, and lot of other great contenders and champions of the 40s and 50s. The great TRUE golden era of boxing.

" The Cuban Hawk" Kid Gavilan gets my vote.
