Who is Russia's best ever, pound for pound?
(Pros only, which effectively limits the poll to only a couple of decades, and RUSSIA only, not non-Russian eastern European countries)

Good call, though he's listed as Aussie (his citizenship). I guess boxers can have more than one nationality for this purpose. Still, Arbachakov had a very strong title run.

Yuri's my vote.
Valuev should not be an option, Maskaev would make more sense if you have to put a heavyweight.

If you're going to distinguish between Russia & former Soviet links (The Ukraine, & the like), you should also divvy up the UK.

Kostya Tszyu.
I guess he qualifies given that he was born there, lived there for 20+ year and if I remember correctly served in the military(albeit the Soviet military).

On the other hand, there is a focus here on pros, & Tszyu was never a, "pro Russian boxer." I never really thought of him as an Australian, but this country has the longest history in claiming non-Australians as their own. Not that Tszyu complained, mind --- far from it.

Disagree. Valuev may have been dull to watch but he has a much stronger CV than Maskaev.

The difference is that Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan etc etc are all independent countries now, while the constituent nations of the UK are not, and haven't been for hundreds of years.

Not saying they're identicla scenarios, but those are still individual nations (as are all your other polls) which make up the UK.

Agree there could be merit in polls for Wales and Scotland.
