Saw a thread on EASTSIDE forums aobout this..

How did you have it scored..? Or how do you score it now after all these yrs ??

Eubank looks good in R6 and R9 ....Somehow the 1st fight was a great blend but 2nd fight a horrid blend-maybe deep inside they were simply to wary of eachothers hurtful punches...?

also do you think Eubank WOULD of engaged the likes of Nunn after this had he won the match..?

Nigel really didn't do anything in the 1st, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th or 12th to be given a share of any of those rounds, let alone win them. Eubank was very poor in 7 and 12 with his misses, but atleast he was the one throwing punches from the stand-off and trying to put them together, as he was in all the rounds.

I have Eubank winning by about five points on workrate, excluding the point taken from Benn. At the time I thought it was all Benn but on reflection I was wrong, very wrong. Benn's head movement was good but his offence wasn't there, just lunging in to clinch and rabbit-punch.

I too like the way Eubank turns on his boxing ability for 90 seconds from the start of the 9th, shame he couldn't keep it up for 180 seconds or indeed box like that from the start of the fight.

He was under contract to fight Henry Wharton in December followed by Michael Nunn in February, in Birmingham and London, had he won Benn II as expected.

Gerald McClellan was also in the frame, to fight the winner of Eubank-Nunn/Benn-Nunn, providing he beat Lamar Parks.

When I watched this fight live I scored it a draw. As far as I rememeber it was the best result for Eubank as Don King wasn't able to get his claws into him because of it.

I had it even, cant find my scorecard though

Not ever watched a replay of the fight. But from what I remember .. Nigel won mind you - Benn was/is one of my fave fighters of all time.

definitely a myth that benn was robbed in this one.

eubank doesn't get the credit in this fight.

i had it 6-5-1 in rounds to benn but the point deduction makes it even

116-114 Benn.

Neither looked to be out to impress that night, did the strange Don King promotional deal have anything to do with that?

He was getting 850k net (no tax deductions) for the night so maybe saw it as one last big bit of dosh for life security then all-for-nothing against the Yanks.

Ahh this old chestnut...

Eubank cruised the first three rounds, struggled in the next three, & was hanging on in 7, 8...

Benn's game was to keep his head and body moving, get in and chip away at the ribcage...landing a couple of hard shots per round which he kept up, showing most snap in 3, 4, 5, 6, 10...

Eubank was just looking more and more uncomfortable coming forward in 5, 6, 7, 8, 12...he got his jab working in 9, 11 and maybe should of got it working by the 4th then may of even had an easyish win!! Not his game to be the aggressor....

For along time it was thought only Benn's WBC title was on the line. Maybe eubank thought so too after he signed.
