After watching the fight I was curious to know how big the fight was at the time, who was faviorite and how did effect each of their careers there after.

Wow, what a great fight. It was a big deal in part because there had been a series of great junior lightweight title fights on free TV in the U.S. over the course of a few years leading up to Chacon-Limon
At the time, I thought the fighters were going in opposite directions. Both had been beaten by Boza-Edwards, who was a sharp puncher. Boza-Edwards then lost his junior lightweight title in a war with Rolando Navarrete. Navarrete lost it to Limon largely because Limon pounded him to the body something awful.
So at the time of the Limon-Chacon fight, it looked like Limon was on the way up. Chacon hadn't beaten anyone decent since losing to Boza-Edwards, and I thought the Limon fight was his last stand.
Ironically, it went in the opposite direction. Limon lost to Chacon, then looked like an old man in his next fight, getting KO'd by a speedy youngster by the name of Hector Camacho. Limon lost 11 of his last 13 and was pretty much a name served up to up-and-coming fighters. Chacon turned around and beat Boza-Edwards in another thriller and got a big-money fight with Mancini a year after the Limon fight.

At the time BAZOOKA Limon was 3 to 1 favorite in the fight and it was not thought to be a big fight going in as most people thought Chacon was washed up but what a great fight it was as chacon came from behind to win and Chacon would then go on to beat Boza Edwards in another upset to avenge a previous defeat in the best fight of the year I saw that fight live at CEASARS Palace in Las Vegas

Must of been a great experience to watch that wonderful fight

In terms of action, I will go with Wilfredo Gomez v Lupe Pintor, but Chacon v Limon IV would be in my top 5

That was an absoulote cracker but I'd have Chacon v Limon IV just ahead with Morales v Barrera 3rd

For me it is only 5 rounds but if you get the chance take a look at caveman lee vs john Locicero from 1981 it is on the internet please watch it and give your opinion

The best 4 rounded I've seen has to be Ramirez v Rosario II that was brilliant

I remember this fight like it was yesterday. Holy smokes did those 2 bring it! I was pulling hard for Chacon but how could you not respect Limon's effort? Great fight.

my guess is that doing the weight at 130 was killing Limon- who looks, to me, a good weightclass bigger than Chacon- by the time this fight came round.

the fact that he'd spent years eating nearly every punch thrown at him wouldn't help much, either..

So true. Limon had more than 60 fights by the time of the last Chacon fight and, if memory serves me right, most if not all of his big fights up to that point were essentially wars of attrition. Eventually his shock absorbers had to go. He was an "old" 29 and looked like a corpse against Camacho
