Ricardo Samms Nottingham......

Just thought I would see if anyone knows Ricardo Samms, years ago I trained with him in Grimsby and Nottingham, he was pure class and utterly dedicated.
He was trained by Fidel Smith aka Slugger O'toole in Nottingham he had british title written all over him.

I once see him school Takaloo in sparring over 4X3 1/2 min rounds, that was before he turned pro, seems strange after 4 fights 4 wins then nothing.

Anyway I hope he's doing well, if anyone knows anything on how he is or if he plans to return to pro boxing, please let me know.

I dont, but I'd be astounded if someone on here didnt. There truly is an encyclopedia of boxing knowledge on this forum.

I agree that the lad was class and had 'cant miss prospect' written all over him.

Strange the way his career never took off - he had talent to burn and I think had some junior amateur titles to back up his promise.

Sorry I cant help Matt, but its a name I remember from a few years back...

Dave Coldwell posts on here occasionally - he may well be able to shed more light on why his pro career never took off?

He had three fights while managed by myself and allegedly, was trained in Notts, then he left, and went with the Ingles. Had one fight but other than that don't know anything?
Good talent and a nice kid, think he was doing well at Uni too so don't know if that had anything to do with it.

If i remember rightly he did alot of sparring with Jawaid Khaliq, and Khaliq spoke very highly off him!
Also my dad spoke highly off him too!

Seen him box as an amatuer once i think and he looked class then!
Im sure he returned to the amatuers, after his short stint as a pro :-?

I knew Ricardo from the GB squad, really dedicated and talanted boxer. He got robbed in the 04 Olympic Qualifiers where if he had have won he would have gone with Khan. Shame he isn't still boxing, hope he's doing good.

Alright peeps,

Just to confirm I’m not working in a meat factory!! I’m still living in Nottingham, just trying to be a good dad and live my life. Thank’s for the comments but the truth is I didn’t believe in my self so I walked way from my dream (shit happens I guess!!!).

Anyway, Dave C just wanted to say I’m really happy Ryan is doing so well, he’s class and deserves everything he gets. John mate keep up the good work I always knew you would do well as a pro.

Thanks again,

Ricardo Samms
