* Mundine: Green is a myth
Controversial boxer Anthony Mundine insists he still has every intention of heading overseas to pursue a potential super-fight against a world-class opponent.
Speaking at his pre-fight media conference ahead of Monday's WBA international middleweight bout against compatriot Rob Medley in Sydney, an edgy Mundine said he can understand the frustrations of boxing fans that have long been waiting to see him take on a top-ranked fighter.
But just as the line of questioning turned to his lack of legitimate opponents in recent years, the 34-year-old lashed out at a familiar foe.
Click here to find out more!
"I'm a fighter, man," Mundine growled before attacking Danny Green over his recent fight with ageing living legend Roy Jones Jr.
"I'm willing to fight anybody any time. I don't duck nobody. I don't fight has-beens like some of our compatriots. I'm ready to fight."
"I'm just worried for Mohammad Ali that they might try and call him out next."
Asked if he's still interested in a re-match with Green, the current IBO Cruiserweight world champion, Mundine launched into another tirade.
"You know what's going to happen there I'll whip his arse again - that's easy work," he said.
"He's just a myth, man. He's a myth and I already proved it once I'll prove it again."
"But I'm setting my own agenda I'm doing my own thing and I want to create my own history."
"I'm willing to take on the best, I don't care who it is. The best in the division at middleweight, junior middleweight - I'm willing to take on the best."
"When I do take on these big name guys or get the opportunity to, then you're going to see what I really can do."
"I'm definitely confident (of securing a super-fight). I've just got to keep on winning, I've just got to keep on looking destructive and they've got to give."
"Something's got to give because you don't go undefeated for five years for nothing."
Meanwhile, Mundine expressed disappointment after his upcoming fight was controversially moved from an IBO light middleweight world-title bout to a non world-title fight at middleweight.
While it is widely accepted his inability to make the weight was behind the late change, he insists other factors were at play.
"I didn't think it was going to be a problem," he said.
"I've been at middleweight for the last couple of weeks. I got as low as 71.5kg, but things happen."
"This would have been another strap to my belt, another step in my legacy and something that I can look back and say I created history. But in saying that it still ain't too late. I know I can make the weight, I know I can get down low enough to be strong and there's still time."
His opponent, who boasts a career-record of 27-2, accused Mundine of playing games, insisting he always doubted 'The Man' would ever slim down to the required 69.9kg.
"It's a little bit disappointing but having a shot at 'The Man' makes it worthwhile anyway," Medley said.
"I thought this would happen I knew he couldn't make the weight and I don't care what he says I knew this was going to happen."
"I don't think he's 'The Man'. We're supposed to fight at junior middleweight and then he pulls this a week out. It's just games mate."

Well when you watch greens 1st fight and then the second fight with beyer you know that he wasn't as sharp and didn't have the energy he had in the 1st fight with beyer, i'm guessing he started having trouble making the weight, mundine fought the same green that beyer fought in the second fight, he was destroying beyer in the 1st and got outboxed in the second.
So to say he is a myth is pretty unfair when you fought the worse version of him.
He won a legit world title off stipe drews who beat silvio branco who beat manny siaca who beat mundine.
This guy doesn't think he is a myth.

Danny Greens American sparring partner Anthony Ice Greenidge has predicted a win for the Australian over boxing great Roy Jones Jr. The New Yorker has worked as a sparring partner to Antonio Tarver, Arthur Abraham and Jermain Taylor and says Jones will not know what hit him on Wednesday at the Acer Arena, Homebush, Sydney, NSW, Australia.
Greenidge said. Danny can move when he wants to move and he also has the ability to throw punches when he wants to. Danny Green will knock Roy Jones out. He punches too hard and too consistently. Roy Jones Jr wont know whats hit him.

That's right because they make millions even if they fight garbage, they do step up now and then, geale was a pretty good opponent, roy jones was past it they say but in his previous fight with lacy they were saying he was like the prime roy jones.

Take a look at the Calzaghe fight. Jones was shot then and lucky to survive.
Mundine is stepping it up to fight the winner of the Aussie Contender series.
My money is on Green if they ever meet again.
Although it's highly unlikely to happen, Mundine is all mouth.

You could say the same about mundine, he has a reputation of been a really talented fighter but he got beat by kessler who easily got beat by calzaghe and ward, kessler is a bit of a stiff.

i know what you're saying
that given, i was happy that Green was positively raising the profile of boxing in oz, even the undercards had a pretty good showcasing of australian boxing. It seems at times that Green and Mundine are the only ones that the general media deems worthy enough to consistantly give exposure to. Then you have guys like Katsidis, who has probobly performed better than both those guys on the world stage (despite his losses), done our country proud and rarely gets mentioned on the news or in the papers. Then theres our young prospects such as Zappa and Kickett who are never mentioned at all.
.....Green may have ventured into the circus, but he's no clown, i feel he's doing good things atm

Mundine is a wanker.simple as that !!
He continues to use Green as a media puppet to keep his profile in the spotlight whilst fighting guys who really shouldnt be in the ring with him.
How about giving Medley some respect choc and stop talking about Green when you have another guy in front of you !!
I for one am no longer frustrated at Chocs inability or blatant refusal to fight top fighters off shore, I have been waiting too long. Choc has jumped on the bandwagon like most RJJ fans saying he was washed up when Green TKO'd him. The same people who no doubt backed RJJ to win the fight. He carries on about Green fighting has beens.........I hope he is not refrring to Bhop in that remark. I don't see Chocs name anywhere near the top 10 p4p, Bhop is around number 3. IF Greenie beats Bhop I think he would go into the top 10 and we would have to listen to Munidne whinge again. Hey Choc, you have missed the boat, the boxing public doesnt give a shit about you anymore. Mundine is and always will be a wasted talent. If he had any balls he would go back to Sup Middle and fight the top guys in the division..........he doesnt have any !!

You mean Sven Ottke - world silver medalist? the man who lost only 6 fights in something like 400 contests and never as a pro? You mean the man who admitted that Mundine was one of the best fighters he has ever shared a ring with and admitted he was getting his arse kicked before he landed a lucky punch?
And as for you morons who state you would put money on Green on a re-mathc after he was dismantled by Mundine - ha ha ha ha

Thats why the bookies will always be rich!

Mate that is spot on, i couldn't figure out how to put that into words myself, He does use Green as a media puppet, and has used Green his whole career.
Every fighter has a special performance in there career, for me Mundines was beating a weight drained Green.
That is, and will be his most remembered victory and it will mean even more to the Pathetic Liar when Green annihilates a few more world class opponents.

Mate Sven Ottke was a joke, it was a running joke around the world his whole career, unless you knock Sven out you will not win, and it wasn't due to his boxing ability, even Robin Reid beat him only to be robbed, and Reid was average at best.

Is this coming from the guy who didn't even know who Tom Heeney was?
You know fack all about boxing, you hang around this forum just to take digs at a man who will buy and sell you in life achievements - you wish you could have achieved a tenth of what Anthony Mundine has achieved - thats all this boils down to from your part Hounddawg - pure jealousy.

I still haven't looked up Tom Heeney, except his record here at Boxrec. As said in previous threads sounds like a blood and guts fighter, but not enough for me to want to go learn his life, he fought Tunney, and yes that would of been a huge achievement if he went the distance.
Don't ever remember too much hype about his career today, and I don't think because i never heard of guy who fought almost 80 years a go, who never won a world title, and who couldn't go the distance with the champ is somehow merit to dismiss me as a person who knows Fackall about boxing....But i could see that from a bloke who does nothing but looks down on people, it must be fun to come down here to talk to us little people hey Chuck?
And this coming from a man who's hero is Sven Ottke

His ego gets anoying, he acts like he is the boss and the man, i got no faith in medley to humble him but i hope does, you never know, n'dou said after sparring him that he does have power.
If he really believes he is that good then why isn't he rematching geale or kessler!!!!
