In that case I would have to go with Toney. He was the naturally bigger man and had decent power along with great speed and timing.

Toney by KO...Too strong for Leonard. Leonard after 147lbs, was not that good.

Leonard would've defeated Toney in a clear UD
Hagler that was by far a better puncher and a better fighter for that matter than Toney could not KO Leonard, but Toney will? Wow!!!

I believe James would have poor leonard in dire trouble late just as he did Nunn and McCallum.
Leonard was much easier to hit than Mike. Because Mike was much more slippery than Leonard. Mike also took shots better than Ray. This necessarily means that Leonard would be knocked stiff.
I have absolutely NO FAITH in leonard in tough matches with young tigers

Nice to see a mix of opinions.
I'm going with Toney. Close decision.

Toney who beat Nunn versus the leonard whop beat Hagler...
I think Toney eventually gets his man after being behind

i'm catching up on some old posts that i missed when my computer was down. i really avoid fantasy matches , but this one is not a prize fight, it would be manslaughter. i'm not making a round prediction but toney would easily whip the little candy ass. he'd catch punches on his shoulder until he felt like opening up and then boom. of course, this is a real fantasy match as leonard would never take this fight.

as great as leonard was as a welterweight and jr. middleweight, he wouldn't have been able to handle someone as good as a prime james toney. toney was just too strong and would have beaten leonard by decision. toney was just too big and strong for leonard!

I have Leonard by close decision, he will never stop Toney but just maybe he'll be to slick. I couldn't see a stoppage either way but can't put up an strong argument against for a decision either way than I other than I think Hagler was a better fighter than Toney.
It'd be a ripping fight though.

Leonard by a point decision (3 rounds up)
Too slick, too quick, too skilled.
