for me no disgrace in getting well beaten by abraham.
he's a brutal piece of work.
at a level he has something to offer still.

I think retirement would be best as well. It's good to see the winner of Bika-Green will likely join the rest. I'd imagine it's more likely if Green wins as he shares Taylor's promoter. Last I heard Bika was still promoted, or managed, by The Contender.

He has finally seen some sense. Be interesting to see what he does next-hopefully call it a day for his own safety.

Glad he has pulled out, 2 brutal KO's on the bounce he seems to have lost his confidence as well. Bika or Green should be a good replacement doubt they will get many wins but they will get their name out there

I heard he was getting $2m for each remaining fight.
But had been given $1m to step out.

It is for the best - I hope Taylor retires and saves himself from further punishment. Tonight, somewhere in Gorton, a lanky bearded fan will be weeping gently into his pillow...

Right decision from Taylor. He's taken too much punishment in recent fight. He had a great career and has a nice resume for a fighter who probably wont get the call to the HoF. As for his replacement....
Dawson would really shake things up if he were to enter. His next fight would be against Ward which he'd be expected to win and he'd be beating the guy who began with little more than an outside chance to win but became one of the favourites after his peformance against Kessler. Not to mention the fact it'd be two unbeaten countrymen going head to head. Would be an exciting introduction to the tournament. That said, I'm not convinced he'll enter, he might've expressed an interest, but I'm not sure how serious that interest is. More likley it'll be the Bika Vs Green winner.

Good news, Taylor's a class act and his statement regarding his decision further reiterates that.
Another good fighter who perhaps didn't realise his full potential after being put in at the deep and instead of maybe being built up some more before taking on Hopkins. Such a fine balancing act. Hope he's made some good money out of the game whether he fights on or doesn't.

Great decision by Taylor and good for the Super 6. No disrespect intended, but his continued involvement would have devalued the tournament.

personally think bika would be a better replacement than green regardless of the result between them , bika has an awkward style and likes to mix it up a bit , i reckon hed be more exciting although in all fairness to green ive only seen him a couple of times , i think both guys would be up for joining as it would be a huge boost to their profile and it would be a world title bout in their first fight , against ward . some one else mentioned dawson , if he could come in it would be great , hes good but doesnt seem to attract the glamour so maybe it would be a boost for him too especially as id expect him to win it if he came in , but cant see that happening .

Glad to hear of it.
Taylor's had a great career and even though he's lost a few, not one of his opponents has ever really been able to make him look out of his depth.

I wouldn't brand him as shot just yet. It was only back in May he was outboxing Froch for 35 mins 30 seconds.
I think boxers get branded as finished very early, Holyfield and more recently Mosley have been written off.
Taylor isn't old, and hasn't had that tough a career - lets see if he can comeback before writing him off. I think he's always been a good 10 round fighter, never the next legend he was hyped up to be, but a solid world class fighter - and his performance against Abraham didn't change my view.
Even in defeat, he's been as impressive as in many of his world title "wins"

i agree but he's finished at the level he wants to compete at so he should pack in before he become just a name on peoples record

Well I am all for a fighter, with enough money in his account to set him for life - should retire and get fat with his faculties intacked.
I still think he can win a version of the world championship - depending on who the champ is and all - I don't think he would ever beat the likes of Kessler and Abrham (at Super Middle) not even before his defeats.

good luck to him. he's had a good career. to be honest, i never liked him as champ, and loved watching pavlik, froch and abraham knock him out.

he shouldn't have gone in, in the first place. all those hard hitters, and bigger men. the stuff of taylor's nightmares, surely?
