Tris Dixon looks to be doing a good start to his editorial career, excellent Boxing News this week.
I like the guest columnist spot, the little extras like the BN top ten lists.
All the previews are well written, and the fight reports are good as usual.
Plus the superb Bob Mee writing about the woeful Latvians we have been seeing in British rings lately.
Keep up the good work Mr Dixon

I agree, I think the guest columnist is a great feature.
However Dixon is not a good writer, and his introductory editorial last week was egotistical and distasteful. It was all about himself rather than the publication, and the way he made out he went to America to pursue and trained at top boxing gyms, painting himself as some sort of warrior are rather laughable and unecessary.
I've seen him training, he's extremely average, and that is complimentary.
However, on the positive side, I did really enjoy his articles when he travelled the states - he picked his subjects well.
I definitely prefer the new format, but Tris needs to step up his writing - he needs to go to journalism/writing school.

Sad to read in BN that Antoine Palatis had died recently, he was a toughman in the ring.

I really like the new look BN, I have to say. Nine times out of ten magazines change for the worse when someone new takes over the reings, but I honestly think that there have been real improvements. Good work.

Well its being reported that is was 'natural death by hypothermia', makes me think he collapsed on a run and wasn't found in time before the cold got to him.
Just hope he didn't know much about it.

Only time will tell if Tris goes on to be a good editor but im defo a fan of his writing.
I havent missed an edition since 2002 and his Dixon's Travel's features that he ran for a short period were by far my favourite articles since reading the mag/paper

Good luck to Dixon. I don't know him but he seems a pretty good egg, and I do know he has a helluva slog just to get into work.
