? about Sugar Ray
I was just wondering where this concensus that there is no film footage of Robinson fighting at Welter comes from. I have a documentary on video that shows some footage of his fight with Charley Fusari, according to this site, Robinson weighed 147 and Fusari 145 (assuming I understand the layout correctly).

the only known title fight film of robinson as welter champion is the one against Fusari, which isn't all that rare. Unfortunately, Robinson, by all accounts including his own, carried Fusari and just put on a boxing exhibition...though he may have knocked him down once..but I'm not positive. it was a charity event...i think robinson donated his entire purse..and was charitable to fusari as well.
I grieve along with terap that there are no films of him in those great welter fights. I know a guy who sqw him aganst Bernard Docusen who says it was a beaut....came from behind against the speedy docusen to win a clear decision. i still say that was when he was at his peak...against middleweights as well....and the middleweight robinson we see was still a great fighter, but past his prime. many who saw him against middleweight Steve Belloise think that was his best fight against a middleweight....but i don't see how he could have been better than he was in the pretitle laMotta fights.....but hey...i didn't see them either.
I do remember an over the weight (welter) match against Bobby Dykes..on tv....and he gave a boxing lesson.... didn't even try for a knockout and some idiot judge called it a draw.
