:DDD :OhYes:

Excellent fight, Maidana will pose some Prescott type questions to Amir, so it'll be interesting to see how he's progressed. Personally I think Amir boxes his ears off, but we all know Maidana is a dangerous relentless opponent.

Well done to Amir (and co) for taking and making this fight :box: :box:

Who knows?? I was reading that allegedly was keen on the fight, but he may have just been saying that to put Amir on the spot (i.e. if the fight didn't happpen it was Amirs fault)...... I'm not too bothered either way, I'm just glad the fight's going to happen as it's one I really wanted to see

If it happens, you have to give Amir Kudos, this guy has a monster punch, Amir will have to stay foucused for 12 rounds.

He's much better than Prescott IMO and i'd say he hits much harder too, tough nights work IMO, i saw what he did to GBP's hot prospect and i was pretty Impressed.

ortiz can't take a punch tho. he wasn't even hurt when the fight got stopped! he has zero heart. just because he had a black eye he gave up. maidana is way too easy to hit. as ortiz showed. but you have to be patient with your agression or you will get tagged against maidana. he is better then prescott but his boxing skills are very average

He definitely has more accuracy than Prescott.

Anyone seen the Kotelnik fight? what was KOtelnik's strategy against Maidana?

I don't know much about Maidana other than he can punch, which adds intrigue to a fight with Khan.

Unlike some, I don't think Khan is an 'exceptional' fighter, but his speed and range should be enough to keep a basic come forward fighter at bay.

Khans power is overated though, and he still is wide open to being hit which makes any fight against someone who can punch very interesting.

Props to Kahn for taking the fight, he could have gone for the light hitting Malignaggi which wouldn't have been interesting at all. However, this is a calculated risk, but it's one he should come through if he's to compete in the mega money fights.

Let's hope he doesn't get tagged, because it will be light out again.

Sure you can question Ortiz's heart but who are we to say he "wasn't even hurt." I think Maidana broke his heart when he took Ortiz's best shots and kept on coming.

Would you say Maidana punches as hard as Barrera?
As Freddie Roach says speed kills :bag:
Khan is just so damn quick

I'd say Maidana punches harder than Barrera.

Get the horrible feeling that this has been announced as being on so to get rid of the WBA purse offer situation, that was die to take place yesterday and then postponed. Controlling Maidana was a carrot that GBP used to get Amir no doubt.

Khan did not want this fight so look for a bit of time wasting from GBP before Maidana withdraws, for a few dollars, and Khan faces either Mallinagi of someone else with less danger until the next WBA mandatory is identified or Hatton loses about four stone of blubber.

Remember, if Khan said publically that Maidana was not happening he would have to vacate. This situiation will be enginered by Golden Boy to protect Amir for a Hatton fight. Amir is and always will be more marketable that Maidana so it's a sensible move when you have both guys.

Amir is a remarkable talent but everyone knows, including him that his chin will always be vunerable and he will need protecting. GBP will sling him in, no doubt, but only for mega bucks and certainly not for Maidana, who Khan in my opinion would outbox anyway. Kotelnik did it although granted his chin is far superior to Amir's.

Unfortunately that all rings true.

If Amir manages to avoid Maidana and still keep hold of his title then (you'll all be pleased to know) I'm off to join www.IndoorBowlsRec.com
