i disagree taffytoon this is not football. some of my favourite fighters are foreign fighters.
this country has showed alot of support to amir khan. just because a minority are being racist khan does a runner to america which fuels more fire to the amir khan haters. i for one like amir as a fighter but sometimes he talks out of his arse a bit. but hey nobody is perfect. i always pay for his ppv fights.. 90% of them havn't been worth ppv status like but i still buy them

because the kid is a great talent. i thought he would duck maidana but he has showed he has courage. khan will be in some mega mega fights in the future. look at the crowd in newcastle they were great and showed amir tons of support.

I don't really think most here in the UK "aren't" behind him... I think they are!
more just "worried" about whether he can handle a real fighter and true top man at 'their' level best. Plus people are sick of the hype before he has truely earned it!
I personally think he's excellent, and I want to see him do well, but not if he's going to be protected, boxings had enough of that in the last 20 years, we want Real Champions & Contenders!

Mr Boxing
As I keep saying my friend everyone has a right to their opinion

I actualy went to AK 21st Birthday party at the Devire Whites hotel after his win over Graham Earl, he is one of the nicest young lad I have ever met in the boxing community. I wish him all the luck.

Nothing against Amir, he is a decent enough young man.
But until he starts earning the millions of pounds he get per year by fighting decent opponents, I shall not be getting on the bandwagon.
If there is one thing i hate, it's manufactured records.

I honestly think Prescott was the best thing that happened to him.
He has shown more character and determination since his defeat than some of our most popular fighters. I also hope in the long run not having the '0' to worry about will mean we'll see him in more exiting and risky fights..
I for one say - COME ON AMIR!!

it's obviously not the best thing thats happened to him. the best thing would him still being undefeated but i know what you mean. positive's and negative's came from the prescott defeat

He has done what any ambitious boxer hoping to reach the pinacle of this sport (and to get shockingly rich) would do.
Good luck amir khan I will be watching.

have to say in the breif meetings Ive had with him he was a nice quiet lad. Ive come full circle after the prescott fight. Liked Khan, then didnt like him, now like him again. I do think its as much to do with his PR as it was him as a person or fighter. Seems to have a more proffessional approach now he'sin the UK, perhaps not being headboy in training has grounded him a little.

usually want the brits to win.
unless they annoy me (witter, audley & froch).
or unless khan gets a fight with hatton.

The Amir Khan bandwagon has damaged British boxing almost as much as the Fraudley Harrison bandwagon did.
Ask your friends in work or down the pub what you they think of him. It`ll be along the lines of `spoon fed challengers etc..`
Its this whats putting the tv networks off forking out for boxing again.
Sure alot of this will be down to the promoter .. or a promoter
I raved about Khan when he was in the Olympics. Sadly his time in the pro ranks has seen a different side to him emerge. I hope, like Carl Froch, he can go on to earn some praise and respect back ..

i dont think khans been protected as a lot of people make out, apart from a few blown up super feathers, graham earl looked a half decent fight on paper, fighting barrera was regarded by suicide by many at the time, kotelnik is a strong established light welter and now maidana is a right handful, a lot of other fighters have had it easier

Manufactured records - Calazghe and Hatton and Khan have all fallen not that far from the same tree...

I would love to see Amir do well.
I was impressed with his victory over Kotelnik. No-one had managed to dominate him before. Khan could do with a win over a big puncher, though.

The lad needs the name fights. Of couse he will be in with some tough, top contenders, but thats what boxing is about, isn't it?
Leaving Fwank is the best thing for him. He has money, he wants challenges, like any boxer worth his salt.
Fighting under Fwank for another X amount of years, fighting non descript opposition and racking up win after win is not how this kid is made.
I wont fault him even if comes a cropper, the fact he is willing to try and test himself, earns my respect.

Probably a little harsh on Amir that if anything. Amir took 6 fights to come up against a fighter without a losing record and hasn’t faced one since. Compare that to Hatton (11 and the bloke has since lost more than he’s won) and Calzaghe (9 and likewise has lost more than he’s won since.
Khan has only had 23 fights. Who did Ricky Hatton go against in his first 23 that compared to Kotelnik? I know Kotelnik is limited but he had never lost decisively before and Khan absolutely schooled him. Likewise Calzaghe.
I’m not a big Khan fan and maybe they have looked to guide his career away from some fighter but he’s still only a kid and hasn’t been as bad as some other British boxers for fight picking. Now he has a genuine world title (not wbo) you can expect to see him in some decent scraps.
