Haye moved to northern cyprus a few years ago, 2008 i think, had the ideal set up, his wife had their first child there, adam booth and his family moved there, adam booths father already lived there. haye built his own gymnasium there, hayemaker fighters would go out there and train for a month, in the ideal climate etc......

so what happened?

i found his gym last august (thanks to directions from a local furniture shop who had delivered there), it is in the most unlikely of places, out in the 'sticks' behind a village called karakum (a couple of miles east of kyrenia)....

a neighbour to the gym told me that 'david and adam' were back in london on holiday....

since then haye has trained for the valuev fight, had and won the valuev fight, done all the pre and post fight press etc.... and still no sign of a return to northern cyprus, and i dont think the TRNC flad was on his trunks for the valuev fight either.......

so what has gone wrong? ... do haye and booth still live there? ...

anyone know?

i think he said he trained for valuev in england so he could promote the fight more

if david haye wants to be the face of heavyweight boxing then he needs to either live in london or america.

He is a tax exile and who can blame him - imagne the tax he would have had to pay on his reported £6M for the Valuev fight.

90 days mate just filled out my tax form.

Haye and Booth probaly were tipped off some deranged fan had hunted them down to the remotest part of Cyprus and the Furtniure Guy agreed to do them a favour and give you information that they had gone to London.

When you left - they probaly came out from behind the Furniture shops counter and thanked the guy for seeing you off.

hey mate, im not driving at anything, i was born in cyprus myself and am proud to be so, but im english not cypriot. cyprus is one of my favourite places, and being a boxing fan, and having spoken to adam booth at one of hayemakers press conferences (holiday inn rotherham i think), adam told me to call him when i got to cyprus and i would be welcome at the gym, unfortunately, and thanks to the lovely csa. my holiday was 6 weeks later than i planned, hence missing team hayemaker by a week or so.

so gentlemen...that is my reason.

Ive been all over Cyprus, but not the turkish end.

Why did he pick the Turkish end, anyone know? i know he was a frequent visitor of Aya Napa in years gone by.. and the greeks and the turks still have massive differences with each other.

adam booths dad is either turkish cypriot or is living out there as an ex pat, one of the two, im not sure which. i think hayemaker went out there and all liked the people and the climate.

Em, yep, as J says, you have to do fewer than 91 days in the UK (and a few other formalities such as not being in the UK on the first and last days of the requisite tax year)
