i think it could be about to change for the good, more 50/50 fights on his cards. also more 50/50 fights on other promotors cards matchroom look to be starting it up with daws v cook, purdy v lomax the undercard for daws v cook looks good also and for £30 you can not go wrong :TU:

maybe if other promotors put on better shows then warren will once again have to pull his finger out, wazza use to have some good fights on but now has took safety first with his fighters for way to long, maybe he will now let them off the leash a bit early.

Mr Warren losing his touch - do be brief and no f*cking chance!!

Whether I, you or anyone else likes it or not - he will be around for a while yet - although got to say this is the weakest position I have seen him in for a while - he will bounce back and we will spit back some venom in his direction too.

Doesn't anyone think that Barry Hearn would be a better promoter, if he put all of his energy into boxing? Prizefighter is great, he promoted the definitive British fight of the last 30 years and look at what he's done with other sports.

Hearn doesn't care about boxing at all. Just takes his TV fee and puts on the cheapest show he can get away with, as with in Glasgow.

And there is a reason none of his fights - bar Prizefighter - get any press coverage or any crowd. It's because he doesn't even bother to hold press conferences.

I heard that he is trying to retire now and pass on Matchroom Sport to his son and daughter.

Haven't really got any issues with what you write, except the one part......'class' is not something most people associate with Warren.

I doubt he actually cares what people think, anyway :OhYes: .

Forget the Khan 'sincerity' write up he printed in his column in The Sun  . That kind of b***$%&* spin is for the public.

He is a businessman, a good one, a wealthy one but still disliked for his approach to boxing.

Just sayin' :TU:

Well, he does have a lot of prospects, it might be a question of seeing how far they end up going.

Why is it when fighters such as Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank leave Barry Hearn there is no scandal, despite both commenting that they were 'screwed' - at least half a dozen top snooker players left him also citing mismanagement.

In fact, if you compare their records more sportsmen have left Barry Hearn than have ever left allegedly and with much less money in their pockets too.

How many Boxing millionaires has Hearn made? Eubank? Benn? I can't think of any more and hardly a comparison to Warren whose list would go into double figures.

However, when Khan leaves Warren, after his contarct has expired, it's a great scandal and people expect skullduggery. This is just another example of Anti-Warren bile on Boxrec.

So, Mr McNeilly what is the "definative fight of the last 30 years" that Hearn promoted?

Surely you are not referring to Benn V Eubank 2? The one he co-promoted with Don King and allegedly because they were the only two who could raise the TV money needed to stage it in the first place?

The same fight where Nigel Benn sacked the halo-wearing Hearn the day before the show for trying to screw him by not paying the WBO sanction fee so that he couldn't win it and Eubank wouldn't lose it regardless of the result. The same one where he scarpered off afterwards due to the draw rather than go forward with the unification package he had agreed with his partners FW and DK and thus deprieved the fans of some great fights.

You lot don't really know what you are talking about. Even Spud has a better view on things than most these days.

cos hearn doesn't behave like a bitter old man about it all.

he gets on with it and cleans up in other sports. :OhYes:

i bet warren would love to have packed out arena's every other week like hearn does.

if only he'd matched the offers to keep ricky hatton.

You're correct on this occasion - got my fights mixed up. 'Twas late.

And seeing as you've worked for Hearn, you'll certainly know more than I do.

I just think he's done an unbelievable jobs with darts and will almost certainly resurrect snooker...if he was really bothered about boxing he might be able to shake some things up.

No.

He's still way ahead of any other promoter in this country and I don't see that changing just yet, it will eventually though as history has told us "all empires come to an end"

That's because Hearn's son Eddie has taken Audley on as his pet project

I think it's fair to say that the sport as a whole is not exactly in the gloydays of the fights that have been mentioned on this thred already, but, that said, I have to admit that allegedly's shows are still by far the best.

Boxers change Promoters, managers and trainers all the time. There is no "Ryan Giggs" of the boxing world that springs to mind (certainly not at the top level), but I just think that there will always be more publicity surrounding a allegedly boxer doing so. That in itself must the the mesure that he is still top dog.

They can be, but not always. He has put on some very good "arena" shows, but some rather weak Friday Fight Night cards.

the "Night of Champions" feb show looks OK, but nothing too amazing.

I know what I am talking about.

The deal was THE WINNER would be involved in the unification fight with Michael Nunn in their next fight.

THE FIGHT WAS A DRAW.
