Gomez was never the force at Featherweight that he was at Super Bantam. Marquez either stops him late or takes a close but clear decision.

Like I've mentioned before, Marquez is a good 10+ lbs. Heavier than Gomez on fight night, and Bazooka was screwed against larger boxer-punchers. He comes out strong based purely on physical dynamism but Marquez takes everything and dishes it back out with interest, battering the open Gomez round after round before stopping him late in a brutal fight.

JMM counterpunches Gomez' head into the middle of whatever week is 3 weeks after the fight.

Gomez's chances are better than that. He's an underdog in my book, but it's an intriguing battle.

I won't discount Gomez's ability to hurt Marquez, punch-for-punch.

Gomez too strong at Featherweight, late stoppage for me.

Gomez ain't as good as a Feather as Pacquiao was? Okay, so most of his accomplishments were a whopping four pounds south. No big deal, in my book.

Pacquiao, I know you agree, should've received that decision.

aye i think he can possibly hurt JMM or at least stun him some.

but my abiding image of this (hypo) fight is strongly influenced by Gomez getting repeatedly rocked by Pintor's right hands, and JMM has gotta be 12-15lbs heavier in the ring than career bantam Pintor.

when Pintor stood his ground or got put against the ropes and simply whaled back at Gomez, most often it was Gomez who ended up disengaging as a prelude to being backed up and hurt himself.

In a JMM-Diaz way I can see Gomez winning some rounds by getting into a Tyson-esque rythmn and outworking him some on the inside, but the punishment he takes in the process debilitating him too severely for it to be competitive for more than a few rounds. before he gets iced.

I think it lasts longer than that, but it's a solid analysis, nonetheless.

I do think Marquez wins it.
