Khan-Marquez May 15th in Vegas

Not completely done but looks like its close. This should be a cracker and I think Khan can pull it off. Hes faster, much taller with more reach, has allot of intensity and JMM might be on the slide. JMM has 2 brutal KOs in his last 3 though and is known for the great timing and accuracy that can cancel out speed. SO Khans going to be tested but the problems JMM had with Diaz's intensity and openness to the left hok makes me think Khan's better skills sees him win a decision
Im excited about this 1 anyway, better than the Maidanna fight to

I thought this was going on the undercard of Mayweather vs Mosley? I too fancy Khan, Marquez seems to be on the slide were Khan is on the up. I think Khan will be to fast and get in and out affectively enough to win on points

Mayweather's established the blueprint. Masterful boxer as he is, Marquez will always struggle against a naturally bigger fighter who's faster. Khan should take this but it's a good fight and no walkover.

I am going to go with Khan. Despite Marquez, great as he is/was, this is a far safer option for Khan. It is a wise move business wise. To go to America and beat Marquez will really put him on the map. I hope, for his own sake, he doesn't run away from the Maidana fight. He will become known for fighting over-the-hill legends and hand picked opponents. I really don't want to dislike Khan as I think he has a very exciting style so I hope he mans up.

David Haye. That way he won't have to shed all that weight. Well maybe just a stone or two

Amir Khan launches his American adventure against Mexico's highly respected and vastly more experienced Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 15.
The once-beaten Khan – blasted in 54 seconds by a Colombian unknown recently - faces a man who once held Filipino great Manny Pacquiao to a 12-round draw and went the full 12 with unbeaten American great Floyd Mayweather Jnr in his last outing in September. His wins total a round 50. This ranks as some US debut for our boy. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old Khan is a brilliant boxer with blurring hand and footspeed and the ability to stick and move for 12 rounds. His one weakness is a weakness to PUNCHERS, which Breidis Prescott, that Colombian unknown, proved to be on Khan’s Manchester 'manor' in September 2008; Marquez, a brilliant boxer himself, is not renowned as a puncher and never will be at the ripe old age of 36. He might just be 'made' for a younger, energetic, ambitious, naturally bigger kid like Khan who will surely to be chomping at the bit in his first fight in the States, in his first fight for promoter Oscer De La Hoya, in his first superfight.
Anyone who can 'crack' stands a chance with Khan. Anyone without a punch, and without real size either, stands much less of one, even Juan Manuel Marquez.

Good fight, not as good as the maidana fight but as long as that fight happens this year I dont think there can be many complaints.

I think this is a bad style match for Marquez. Khan is tall, long, super-fast, and shows lots of lateral movement. I also think Marquez was at the absolute limits of his frame at 135, and that he's far less effective at anything above that.
Of course, Marquez is has every punch in the book, throws them very correct, is as wily as Henry Kissinger and has plenty enough power to smoke Khan's boots, so you never know.
Yesterday, I listened to Beethoven's 9th Symphony in its entirety for the first time, and thought it was remarkable. Of course, I'd heard various sections before -- the singles rather than the album, so to speak -- but listening to it as a whole was mind blowing.
To conclude, Khan on points.

I'll give Khan a slice of credit for fighting Marquez.
It would be easy to ridicule it by declaring that Marquez is 15 years older and pushing 40, is pretty ineffective above his natural weight class and is diminishing.
But I actually think he could still provide some problems for Khan, even up at 140lb.

I think Marquez at the very worst will extend Khan and at the best beat him on points.

What about if he fought Marquez in May (because Maidana isn't going to sell in the US), get Maidana to step aside and they box in October, with Khan potentially a much bigger star then? That seems like commoon sense to me. Otherwise, how are they going to sell Khan-Maidana right in between Haye and Hatton?

A UK undercard would make a ppv a better sell. Hatton next fight is early June that will be ppv.

My goodness there are some monumental whingers on here. If you don't think a Khan v Marquez fight to be a great match-up, you are a moron.
JMM has one of the careers of the last decade, has fought everyone, can bang and only last year was in a war with Diaz. I know FMJ schooled him, but that was based on weight and handspeed, not any discernable signs of him slowing down.
I've no idea if the fight will happen, but if it does, full props to Khan. It makes far more sense than a Maidana fight.

Zab is a real danger in the 140lb division at present.
He has the tools to beat anyone.
The first 4 rounds against Floyd he had him in all sorts of poo.
