That's some brave, or very stupid robbers.

I always think of the two poor mugs who broke into Duncan Ferguson's house when I read about robberies of sportsmen in Liverpool.

The image of Duncan Disorderly sat atop of two badly beaten quivering scallies with a snooker cue in his hand when the police arrived, was something I would have paid good money to see!!

Ha ha, great story, but nowhere near true mate.

One burglar, who wasnt a scallie but one bloke in his late 30's (38 i think), and fergusson grabbed him, held him on the floor and punched him a couple of times before holding him down till the police arrived. The burglar actually tried to sue (!!) fergusson because he sustained "bruising to the ribs and cheek" (if memory serves).

Your story is much better though ;-)

Heres the tale (and pic of the plonker)
The burglary was disturbed by Duncan Ferguson who found the burglar in his home and immediately tackled him. The burglar is now accusing Ferguson of assaulting him and is putting himself forward as a victim as is becoming the fashion for various lowlife in society. The 'victim bandwagon' must be stopped. There are real victims in Society being denied help. Anyone burgling a house has every right to expect not too warm a welcome from the householders. Luckily Duncan Ferguson is a big lad, he was able to tackle the burglar and foil his plan to rob him and possibly cause harm. Karl Bishop's solicitors bleated to the press claiming that "My client received severe bruising to the body and to the face due to numerous blows with a fist. One eye is so bruised it has completely closed and he also has a number of cuts to his face and head."

Totally agree eric. These two (link below) lived in the same village as i do, they burgled my grandmothers house around 1997 after hearing down the pub she was taking my grandfather to bingo, he had terminal cancer (dies about two month later) and was virtually housebound. They went to bingo, these two went in and literally ransacked the place. Didnt believe in Karma, part of me does now.

Working it out in my head '97 may be too late, more 95/96 as I was about 13/14 when I do the maths properly. I was too young, but luckily the rest of family, who are in numbers in the area, did* Thats the reason they moved from where I live, although they "took a few with them" (always find that low lifes are quick to grass). They moved to a town about 15 miles away, then to blackpool.

The brother that was killed was also convicted of (amongst other numerous things) going around his new town door to door with a Mcmillan Nurse collection tin.

Scum ... fornicate em. I personally had a nice cold beer on them when I was told.

* A close member of the family ran the lad who was stabbed over when he was riding home on his bike, bear in mind I live out in the sticks with each town about two miles away. I'll never forget this family member saying to me a couple of years later "I just nudged the back tyre with the car and over he went. It was about 1am and I stopped 20 yards down the road, I got out the car to give him a proper going over and as I got about 5 yards away from him (he was on the deck writhing in agony) some lights appeared down the road, I said "jesus mate im sorry about that" and grabbed his hand to pick him up... the car drove by and I waved at them as if to say we were okay, all sorted, he said "fornicate mate didnt you see me" I replied "course i did you silly thieving pudendum" then kicked him right in the face... you can image the rest yourselves.

In our local paper about 10 years ago a burglar ransacked a house and then took a big steaming poo on their dining room table.

The police 'took DNA from the fecal matter' and traced it back to it's rightful owner ! :D

Also when there was a bad snow storm a few years ago the power went off for day or two. A guy burgled a TV from a shop and the police followed tracks all the way to his front door, where he'd dragged this big box all the way home with the telly in it.

Burglars - not very intelligent people.

CARROLL, Iowa (Oct. 29) -- Police had no trouble identifying two men accused of trying to break into a Carroll, Iowa, apartment. Police were responding to a call about an attempted burglary when they pulled over a car matching the alleged suspects' vehicle. Inside the car, officers found two men with their faces blackened with permanent marker.
Police said the caller described two men with painted faces attempting to break into an apartment Friday night before driving off.
Matthew McNelly, 23, and Joey Miller, 20, were arrested at gunpoint after officers were told they might be armed. Neither man had a weapon. McNelly and Miller were each charged with attempted second-degree burglary. Both men were released after posting bond.
Attorneys for the men declined comment Tuesday.
