Yes, an Aussie-based organisation run by one man and his Jack Russell. I watched Bugner against Earnie Shavers the other day, and Shavers, already blind in one eye, stopped him in two rounds on cuts but the cuts saved Joe from a knockout. Earnie was really nailing him.

That's not how I remember it. Shavers laid some heavy leather on Bugner and dropped him with a big right uppercut in round 1. However, Bugner got straight back up and weathered the storm until the end of the round. Shavers came out firing again in the second but couldn't put Bugner away (Bugner was always a good defensive fighter). Shavers then nutted Bugner in the face and the ref had to stop it when Bugner was badly cut. Shavers had poor stamina and was getting frustrated. He wanted Bugner out of there quick. Had it been allowed to develop into a long fight I think Bugner may have won. He had better skills, a better defense and much better stamina than Shavers who was prone to run out of gas late on.
When you think that shavers was probably one of the hardest punchers to step in the ring i thought bugner did ok, and like you thought he would go onto win

Bugner fought them all - his resume is the most impressive of ANY British heavyweight and there are few British fighters who have fought as good as opposition (can you better Ali, Frazier, Lyle, Ellis, Shavers etc)
Bugner would have weathered the storm if not for the cut and gone on to stop Shavers in around 6 rounds - Shavers had that tendency to go hell for leather and the blow up - Shavers was very lucky for Bugner to be stopped on a cut so early.
Bugner can say he fought the best of his era - can Calazghe? Hamed? Hatton? Even the holy Dark Destroyer? (a man we all love and respect as a fighter) - so called 'world' champions? don't think so!

What a bloody embarrassment his WBU Title Fight was with Bonecrusher Smith. I remember him holding the belt aloft and screaming about being the world champ. If I remember rightly, Bonecrusher had to withdraw after 1 round with a dislocated shoulder. Boxing has improved somewhat in recent years.
