There was always something entertaining about him though, even when at his most negative.
As you say he talked a good fight, and he put bums on seats too. Warren was happy to have him on board when he first got into licenced boxing. Who can forget that night Winston Allen intentionally butted Bugner and got him mad...

There are plenty of other Bugner videos I put up for your enjoyment on Youtube.

When Bugner was the 'commisoner' for the XFC back in '04. I fought
on two shows where he did his thing on them. He was pretty fun to
talk with and told a good story.
He had an ok understanding of MMA.
I was back stage after my fight with some of the other lads and I
felt this big hand on my shoulder...
I turn around and there was this big head and a smile..
"There I was standing across from Joe Frazier..."
He spent ten mins telling me and those others lucky enough to be
in ear shot, just how hard Frazier hit. I wish I had video'd the
whole ordeal. He was a cool guy and I could have spent ages
listening to him/

Collin, thanks for the videos. Winston Allen is an exciting guy to watch. I was impressed with Terry Lawless as a trainer in the video that showed Bruno training prior to the Cummings fight. He was big on fundamentals. If Allen had Lawless as a trainer, he might have been a very good fighter. It looked like his footwork caused him problems vs. Bugner and Bruno. For one thing, he would go back, but instead of moving his back foot first, he would move the front foot back until he was squared up. Bugner took advantage of that a few times.
It's a shame to see a guy with that kind of potential end his career with a losing record. I'd like to see his one round KO of Coopman, I bet that quick right hand demolished Jean Pierre? Some time spent with Lawless to work on his technique and fundamentals and Allen might have had a different career.
BTW, I know little about Lawless, what is your opinion of him as a trainer?

Any footage of Joe Bugner sparring with Gerry Cooney when he was getting reading for the Holmes fight?

Marvis was a decent fighter in his time. And Bugner was not in his prime.
Besides being destroyed by prime Tyson's and Holmes', Marvis had a decent
career and may have faired better as a CW.
I agree that Bugner could be frustrating at times, from those bouts of his
that I have seen. But the man has a pretty impressive body of work, as
a young man and as an old man...and in between.

Bugner & Mercer, peak-for-peak, would have made for interesting, if not exactly enthralling, viewing.
^^^Just a random thought on my part.

I agree GI. Though I think it could have it's lulls at times.
I think it may be a bit like the Damiani fight for Mercer
in some ways, except I do not see Mercer catching Bugner.

Anyone know if the Joe Bugner-Larry Middleton fight from 1971 in Nottingham England was televised?
In which round did Middleton break Bugner's jaw?
