I disagree with the concept that historical significance & mainstream appeal should be factors in what makes a fighter, "great," for reasons I imagine most understand without me explaining.

That said, I've never compiled a list anywhere close to the top two-hundred, so well done :TU:

Can I ask your reasoning just for the top five?

Mainstream appeal should be irrelevant, I've done a top100 and it's a brutal task. Very little difference between 35 and 85. I would have plenty of differences but the only thing i find outrageous is the placing of the Klitschko's. I can't see a place in the top 200 for them if you combined their careers.

I can't criticize someone's list unless I can create a much acceptable one..

overall very good. :TU:

I also don't think mainstream appeal and historical significance should considered when rating how good a fighter was. Still overall, its a very good list.
My biggest problem is with Lou Ambers, Nino Benvenuti. and Dwight Qawi. Amber was only #118. That is way, way too low. He probably should be in the Top 50.
Benvenuti #132? Way too low. He certainly should be in the top 100.
Qawi at 183? He should be much higher, possibly in the Top 100.

Like most lists, Basilio (#71) is rated higher than Fullmer (#97). Yes, Basilio also won the welterweight title, but he wasn't a better fighter than Fullmer. Fullmer won the head to head matchup, beat more top fighters, and he didn't lose to inferior fighters nearly as often as Basilio.

As someone elase mentioned, the Klitschkos are way too high. Neither belong in the Top 200.

Still, overall a good list. No two people are going to agree on everything.

Good list, must of took a hell of a long time!

I'd have Buchanan #133 higher. Zapata slightly higher but all in all well done
