bbboc have ordered akaash bahtia to defend his southern erea title against mickey coveney in his next defence because of the bad referees decision at brentwood centre on frank maloneys show where coveney lost on points over 6 rounds and i understand the ref jeff hinds is to be repremanded

The well known publication was ambivalent but I was there and it was at least a draw, IMO Coveney did the better work Bhatia shoeshined for the ref, Coveney had the better power shots.

I was very impressed with Coveney on the undercard of Rogan V Sexton II. Really made the bigger Kevin O'Hara work for the win. Cuts the ring off well and dosen't waste any punches. Solid fighter.

I'm a mate of Mick's and there has been more blatant robberies but it was pretty bad. It just goes to show how subjective things are. I had it 4 rounds to 2 for Mick, Bhatia had one round he won clearly and another that he nicked. Mick outboxed him and outworked him for the other 4 in my opinion. Bhatia as Matthew says showed flashes but they were so infrequent and he seemed so reluctant to throw shots, when he did If it had been scored a draw it wouldn't of been controversial, I think what shocked everyone the most was that the ref has seen it so very differently to everyone else, 59-55 was just very strange and is why I think he has been reprimanded.

As it happens I saw Akash on the undercard of the Williams v McDermott fight and he looked absolutely fantastic and he can definately box a lot better than he did that night.
Re-match should be a good one regardless, Mick will be bang up for it and i'm convinced he will do it this time, as long as Jeff Hinds isn't the ref!

Yeah, used the head a lot against Derry. Derry ended up with 18 stitches after the fight. Like I said I wont be underestimating Mickey and look forward to the fight.

Fair play to Coveney, he done really well against Pajo last night and it was probably level on the cards. Pajo said in his post fight interview that Coveney was probably the toughest fighter he has fought to date. Coveney was visibly upset at the end but I hope he catches a break in the near future, seems like a top lad and his record doesn't reflect his abiltiy.

Coveney got caught with a real hard straight right which floored him and shook him up quite a bit.
He made it to his feet, and although he had his legs under him he just wasn't coherent enough to stop the follow up barage from Hyland and the ref jumpeed in after a few decent shots.

The full card can be found there, Murray v Fagan is on first and Hyland v Coveney is the next one after.
