This is a tough match for Martin on the 19th in Stoke. Can see a title fight in the near future, hopefully for the British this year

Is he the best opponent they could have got for him?

Shalva Jomardashvili looks like he can bang, but these all-Georgian (Bulgarian/Somalian/Timbutoon .....etc.) records can be deceiving. It still should be a much needed step up for MM though

In his last outing he was Jdown in round 5 and down twice round 8. Murray bangs harder than his record suggests.

Has anyone here seen Shalva Jomardashvili fight? He might just have a pretty record. I don't recognise any of the names, and he's rated 164th in the World, so he hasn't beaten anyone of note.

He seems to have a good record but there isnt any recognisable names in there, I would like to see him take on Paul Samuels instead of this guy, and then maybe McDermott for the English and then go for the British

Anytime I see a Georgian with a decent record I get a little suspicious.

Going on the records, I'd have to say it's Ashley Theophane who's got the tougher one. His is also in the USA against a prospect.
Should still be interesting for Murray if this Georgian guy brings ambition with him.

X2
Was just about the same write the same
There the like's of Danny Butler, Steven Benda as well they look a 100 times tougher then this Georgian, who 9 times out of 10 are crap. Fights like this looks good on the record and will get him closer to Title's. Good Luck...

Not a massive fan of these unknown Georgians. Occasionally a good one might come over, but on the whole would rather see a decent English lad in the opposite corner.

I wrote another post on this fight when the bill was first announced but no sign of that thread :?? . In any case, the only recognisable name on his record is Aslanbek Kodzoev, who is a very decent fighter. Questionable chin but he can really bang and has some decent boxing skills. It's an impressive result if Murray can go one better than Kodzoev and stop Jomardashvili.

it looks like Murrays opponent has fought in those same infamous gym bouts as the fighter you listed. Think it was BM that done an article about them a while back. They stage fights in a run down gym in front of a small number of people and the loser has always gone down very easy. The majority of the losers aren't even registered boxers.

They deleted the thread because people who know boxing commented on foreign opponents being brought in for the likes of Murray and co When there are plenty of British lads that would do it So dont be surprised if John deletes this thread

Those Gym fights took place in Latvia and while the same practice may be in place in Georgia, we currently have no proof of it.
The thing that would have me believe this guy is better than most of those with inflated records coming out of Georgia is the narrow loss on the cards(I obviously haven't seen it) to Kodzoev. He was down 3 times and yet still only lost by 3,2 and 1 points on the cards over 8 rounds.

Down in whihc fight? Is quiley staying at SMW? If so a fight with Murray wont happen. I think martin would beat Samuels quite handily

Probably why I missed it.
Fash knockdown, balance or just a legit shot that put him over.

he got hit with a shot, he was hurt went to hold but the other fighter stepped back and he went down it might of been a stamina issue as he won every other round
