Nice and sunny where I am going!!!

Just before I go - the jungle drums have been beating and some excellent news has reached my ears:

The bloke at my corner shop has told me and he rarely gets it wrong that "Meaty Mick" has won the purse bids for Kel Brooks latest fight.

Just as I was leaving the shop with my 10 bags of crisps, The Daily Sport and my 15 Chocolate bars - the f*cker called me back to give me another snipit!!!

I bet you dont know how long Kel Brook has left on his contract do you Spud?

The fight went to purse bids which was meant to be released today but the board so slow. I don't think Brook will fight him.

Its John O Donnell v Kell Brook. Macklin V Barker was won by Hennessy but never took place.

If Meaty hasn't sorted out a TV Contract anywhere, why is he bidding big for a British Title fight ?
Surely not to sub contract to another Promotor ?
There was a rumour flying around a couple of weeks ago that I ignored because the source was poor that there was going to be an announcement this week from Henessey.
Could it be he's sorted a deal out ?
If he has, great news.
What British Boxing needs is all of our main Promotors with decent TV deals - then we can judge for ourselves who's serving up the best dishes.

Wasnt Kell forced to go back to the Ingle's due to Fwank not allowing his boxers to train with Dave Coldwell?He hinted in Boxing Monthly that Brendan hasnt completely forgiven him,too.

Yes Kell did leave Dave due to Hayemaker I think. When did this get mentioned in Boxing Monthly

mick can't even get a sky deal. and he has a good stable. he would rather froch go on primetime then skysports 1 where millions will watch him and on primetime 20 thousand will watch him. was a bit unlucky to lose his itv deal tho.

Not really. He consistently put on dire shows in the last 6 months of last year so you can't blame ITV for pulling out. And when Froch fought against Taylor and Dirrell Hennessy shoved it on PPV's that nobody watched in an effort to make a bit more cash. If those fights would have been on ITV1, maybe Froch would have been a star on Haye-like levels-but instead nobody cares about him or knows who he is outside of Nottingham or boxing circles.

I would have to agree with that.

I thought Froch Taylor went on PPV because no TV was picking it up. The only way the fight could be seen by fans live was via the internet stream. I'm sure a deal could have be done with TV if the price was right, but Froch and Hennesy definately wanted it on terestrial TV at the time.

Yep, thats it. I think I read at the time that Hennessy wanted a ridiculous amount for the fight, ITV said no deal (bearing in mind the fight was at 4am) and made a counter offer which Hennessy scoffed at, thinking he could make more money from an online PPV. He didn't, naturally and it bombed. Not 100% on this, but I believe its what happened.

By the time of the Dirrell fight, ITV had announced they were done at the end of the year and presumably didn't see the benefit in buying it. In my eyes, Hennessy should have bent over backwards to accommodate them for both fights-but he's a promoter and I'm not. Obviously these fights wouldn't have got X Factore style figures, but at that time of the night the audience share (which is mainly what broadcasters look at) would be massive.

Can't help but feel he might still have a contract with ITV if he'd have done things differently.

all this he's good too his fighters talk is over the top, it's a buisness & nice guy's dont last.
