Green calls out Mundine

Danny has offered Choc a shot at his title (minimum weight 79kg). He wants it on ANZAC day in Sydney. 45/45 splitwith the remaining 10% going to indigenous youth (a foundation). Will be interesting to see if Choc finds an excuse not to take this fight. He cant ask for anything more.....

79kg is 173.8 lbs, that isn't even at the light heavy limit. Can this really be for the IBO baby!?!

Mundine could say he was the only fighter ever to sign on for a junior middleweight fight, fail to make weight and then fight at "cruiserweight"...

I thought the weight was a bit low but that is what is being reported in a media report on the net.
What is minimum weight for the cruisers, I thought it was 81kg.
It sounds like the offer is on the table. I will make the trek back to Sydney if it happens, hopefully at ACER.
Besides a "weight" argument I find it difficult to see how Mundine can come up with a decent reason to knock this fight back. Green even playing the "indigenous" card. A great jesture and also placing massive pressure on Choc to take the fight.

A fair catch weight with 10% of proceeds going to charity. Absolutely no reason for Choc not to take the fight. Something tells me he wont be up for it though...here's hoping.

Well it will square the ledger. I hope Green doesn't turn what could potentially be a fairy tail finish into a circus.
Cloud doesn't have an opponent for March, Dawson hasn't got an opponent for June, and Huck doesn't have an opponent either, they're all legacy building fights imo.

throwing in the 10% for the indigenous community is an ingenious plan by green....like someone else says it means mundine HAS to take this fight. its that simple. and if he doesn't he is quite simply going to cement himself as the biggest laughing stock of Australian (if not world) boxing.
(green ko's choc in this rematch too)

Mundine won't take the bait. He will call Green a 'disgrace' for using Aboriginal affairs as a lever to get him to fight. Then he will go on about how much he himself does for Indigenous youth in Sydney. He will then state that he has bigger fish to fry than Green...claiming he is trying to get the winner of the super six, or Sturm, or Pavlik...or someone else. He will not take this fight.

I can see mundine coming in and wanting Green to surrender a further 10% to compensate for the 10% he will feel he's going to lose, all the while supporting Greens idea to the media.
Best promotional company in Australia by a country mile....and the winner is Green machine promotions.

mundine needs to take a look at himself if thats the case.
people wont care if he loses here and there as long as he is doing the right thing by the fans and fighting the best opponents. thats why guys like hatton, barerra, morales, katsidis, gatti, de la hoya, cotto, marquez, darchinyan, holyfield (90's version), hopkins, winky wright, etc etc all have massive fan bases and are highly respected in the sport...they might lose the odd fight but they also continue to provide the fans with the fights that are expected of them.
mundine continually lets us down because he thinks he needs to win all the time.

A lot of the great Aboriginal fighters such as Tony Mundine, Dave Sands, Wally Carr all won titles between middleweight and heavyweight without a care in the world.
Mundine should be smart and fight at a catchweight at 77kg to make Green lose weight again.
You can fight at an agreed lower weight for a title so Green should put the IBO Belt on the line.
The $4mill Choc would make out of this fight is more than he would make from 8 Crazy Kims so in the end the dollars will make it happen.

As far as Green is concerned Mundine fights with an agreed weight limit of 79 kgs or gets stuffed. He who has the belt makes the rules.
If Choc does not agree he can try to explain to the disadvantaged Koori kids why they are missing out on 10% of the profits.

Why would Danny Green agree to drop down to 77kg? when making 76kg. was apparently the problem last time and the reason he moved to LHW after that fight. It was impossable for him to make those weights any more. His last fight, at cruiser weight, he weighed in at 82 and looked very lean. Trying to make him weigh in at 77 wouldn't be smart, it would be a smartarse way of trying to avoid the fight.

And he can explain to fight fans why once again he has insulted their intelligence by comming up with a bullsite excuse to avoid fighting a worthy opponent.

These negotiations happen all over the world to make a level playing field for guys rising in weight.
I would start the bidding at 77, and after milking the media for a fortnight settle at 78 kg.
Danny has already agreed to 79 kg so what is 1 more kg.
Danny came in at 81.5 in his last fight - to make 78 kg is a 3.5 kg weight loss and with more than 2 months he could do it easily or get lower.
A rehydrated Danny could still come into the ring at 83-84 and monster the bloated Choc.
There is always a fair tradeoff point. For me it is 78.
