apparently this was never off. just postponed. roach says he will be in macklins corner against pirg.
my take on this whole thing is that neither of them really wants to fight the other as neither man is a very good risk-reward scenario. if either of them were offered a straight shot as Sylvester they would jump at the chance I'm sure.
my suspicion of Macklin at world level- and this is from a birmingham man who's followed Macklin for years- is that I don't think his chin is exactly cast-iron. I was a little bothered by him being rocked by a Jamie Moore jab in about the 2nd/3rd round. okay okay i know Macklin was drained and got very tired etc etc etc but i wasn't very reassured by the way he took shots well before the final rounds. i also think Macklin seems to fight a LOT more cautiously against anyone with even half a dig at 160. and he tends only to really open up against someone like Elcock/the Finn who he knows are likely to be chinny.
