Hi all, here's my story and the reasoning for this thread.
I'm British_Heavyweight, I'm on this forum nearly every day but rarely post.
Anyway i'm 23, I go to boxing training now and again but i'm more of a bodybuilder. I drink heavily at weekends (currently) and havnt got the best lifestyle.
I had a phone call tonight offering me a 'white collar' fight on May the 16th which I have accepted!! The chap i'm fighting had a handfull of am fights as a youth and is about 30 now. Big guy with a lot of power.
The fight will be 4, 2 minute rounds. I am currently 225lbs and 6 foot tall.
I'm opening this thread for help, tips, advice etc. and to generally keep track of my training.
Thanks in advance!

You'l have to get in the gym a bit more, do more Sprints then long runs, 30 min run max but at a Fast Pace.. Do track work Start off with 4X400 Meter Sprints with 2 min rest inbetween get that down to 1 min inbetween, finish off each day at the Track with 2 100's and 4 60Meter Sprints.. Do this the days your Not at the Gym..
Good Luck

Thanks a lot!
I'll be going the boxing gym 3 times a week from now, and will lay off the weights a bit.

Will be getting trained 3 times a week from Monday by a former ABA champion so hopefully by fight night i'll be as ready as I can be!
The plan is not a drop of beer for 3 months! Sounds extreme for a crappy white collar match but the fear of losing is a good deterent!!

Research what type of "white collar" fight it is.
Is it a basic, unlicenced bout? Nothing wrong with that style, of course, but just be trained and prepared for what it entails.
Some white collar events might request vest, headguards or both- some might not even score a winner in the fight, instead raising BOTH fighters hands at the end.
but that said, i'd guess it's a pro style fight.

The show is featuring 8 pro bouts and 4 white collar bouts.
3x2min rounds.
Headguards and vests.

Good luck
What is your style like (ie boxer, slugger, counter-puncher)?
If he hits hard make sure you dont get hit

if this guy has done it before & your a bodybuilder which prob means your naturally a welterweight
![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
DD you dont have much time to become any sort of fighter.
my advice is simple..kidology. i.e the stare, practice in the mirror until you find the face that scares yourself & roll with it, then get in there & abuse it fainting shots while the guy flinches like a ginger foster child :!: this could last upto 2 rds good luck champ.

If it's anything like the lower quality fights I've seen before, get your stamina in check and you've probably got the win (barring getting caught badly).

Good point there - I don't know how developed your muscularity is but if you are well devleoped and only weighing at 225lbs (I think thats about 16 stone) and this guy is a natural heavyweight (who knows how to box) you might take a pummeling here because a heavyweight even at 6ft and 225lbs - thats not a big heavyweight even in the amateur scene today, you are probably a natural middleweight/light heavyweight - its hard to know what to advise without knowing something about your opponent - his height and weight would be a help.

Its impossible without seeing both guys box and train. If fit BHW might be able to go in there and windmill him out, flip side the other guy might cover up and tire him out. Also, you say he's had two am fights. That could mean 8 years training or 6 months training.
All you can focus on is your own training and get as much in as you can. Think Every hour your not training he's training to kick your ass.

Stamina Stamins Stamina, hit the roads as soon as and get plenty of sprints in too.
When watching WC fights it does tens to be the stamina that wins the fight (bar a few real hard training running boxers) they seem to go the gym but don't change eating/drinking habits and none seem to run more than 2 mile once a week.
EBF - who is the promoter ? PM me if you like, might be able to give you some more info on the type of fight you'll be getting into.

I've had no bouts but I consider myself to be boxer more than a slugger.

3 boxing sessions a week + 3 road runs a week is the plan so hopefully I wont gas to quick.

You are far too shor to be a boxer at HW and i mean that in the context of being a boxer over a slugger. Being a brawler would suit your body type not a boxer. If I were you I would lose some weight and go down to another division.
