Kirakosyan is 13/8 to win via TKO/KO seems rather generous to me

Uh oh, it's Hagler's "free money" time. So, Lawton on points it is!

To be fair, Kirakosyan KO does look a pretty safe investment.
But then, so did RJJ on points!

You can't win em all, if I did I wouldn't be sitting here at work in a freezing cold garage
I reckon about 70% of the bets I put up on here come in which isn't a bad strike rate, Ive had a few decent sized winners that have been posted,a 33/1 winner, 25/1 winner couple of 10/1's and plenty around the 4/1 mark.....FREE MONEY

Have to say I'm with Hagler on this. Expect odds to decline closer to fight time. I caught Cleverly by ko/tko/dq at 6/5 and by fight night it was around the 8/11 mark.
Only thing that worries me is that apparently Kirakosyan was outboxed easily by Sergey Gulyakevich, who is decent but no great shakes. I thought he would have at least made it hard for his lanky opponent. I haven't seen the fight but one of cards had Sergey winning by a shutout. Also, he's 36 so may have lost some of his fire. Lawton isn't a good a boxer as Gulyakevich but he's the same size so his height and reach could give Kirakosyan problems.
Also, I didn't catch the Lawton-Matthews fight...how did Lawton look at superfeather? I'm going to check the video of that fight tonight.

All good points - I like Kirakosyan in this but I remember getting burnt when reading too much into one performance in the thaxton - melero fight (thaxton had jsut been stopped by Romanov) where i backed Melero. I have backed Kirakosyan but perhaps i am relying too heavily on his two stoppages of Johanneson as a guide. K is 36 now and I havent seen Lawtons stoppage of Matthews (not that it means as much as it might have done before Matthews started to decline).
Still, happy to back K as i suspect Lawton can't avoid his power all night can he?

I fancy Lawton for the upset here. It's his show and his big chance, I really think he can do it

Gulyakevitch did it easy and Kirakosyan looked lost once he could not land, Gulyakevitch has been over with Lawton I believe and he could not have had any better guidance or insight into how to win the fight. He is more than capable of boxing the visitor's head off but the power he brings makes it a risky night all the way through I guess.
Can see Lawton pulling this off if he is still standing and not hurt when the bell ends the fifth. 117-111 Lawton for me, realise I am in the minority but Kirakosyan only has the power and little else in terms of boxing ways to win the fight.

Yes maybe its best to stay away from this one. Even if Kiraksoyan got a late ko but was being outboxed for the most part, I'd feel bad for making the bet. "Sometimes the best bets are the ones you don't make" - to quote a regular betting poster.

Not trying to put you off in the slightest as I think there is a very good case for making Kirakosyan a good thing but if Lawton don't beat him the first decent boxer with a good chin will, as you hit the nail on the head Gulyakevitch is good but not great and he had an easy night.
Really would like to see Lawton do it and he will never have a better chance, presume its something the Hatton's think is quite probable else why bother with getting Gulyakevitch over here, think he is actually fighting on the card as well, wonder if he gets first dibs at the winner.

I would tip Lawton to get stopped, and wouldn't be surprised if the Stoke contingent, umm, don't take it very well, shall we say.

Scott Lawton the new John Ashton
How many times does the man have to get beaten up before it is recognised that he isn't a championship calibre fighter?
Did beating Derry Matthews who had been stopped in three of his last four justify Lawton getting this title shot?
No
Is he going to get hurt?
Quite possibly, the Board of 'Control' should have vetoed this. I hope I'm wrong but I fear the worst

I would be surprised if Kirakosyan didn't stop him. He can really thump and Lawton is only really a domestic level fighter.

Kirakosyan is 36 now and it's been quite a while since he fought on British soil, I dont think he's been doing much of late either.
Lawton has fallen short at British level which does look like a good formline but I think the Hattons really fancy this one and being in Stoke, I might just plump for Lawton.

good value
Leva Kirakosyan Round 1-4 6-1
Leva Kirakosyan Round 5-8 13/2 (both at Stan James)
these aren't Peter Barlows odds!!!!!!!

Lawton has great bollocks for a fight and comes to the ring super fit.
Johanneson (and you can forgive him) froze like a rabbit in the headlights second time. Lawton has no reason to be psychologically "beat" before he steps in.
If he can get the Russian breathing heavy and take him a few rounds there's no reason at all why he can't pull this off.

not sure i agree NEBF, Leva is a banger, which to an extent is Lawton's kryptonite.
like nigel says he will really need to use his reach.
I imagine his gameplan will involve a lot of movement, so I hope the weightmaking at 130 doesn't drain his stamina. I know he was fine moving for pretty much teh whole 10rds against Gethin at 135, lets hope he can do the same for 12 at 130 if he has to.

Got him at 15/8. Way too big at that number. They say power is the one thing they don't lose. Lawton has over half an hour to avoid it!

Wow well done all those who put their money where their mouth is - Lawton just got destroyed. Kirakosyan just walked through him.
