RIGHT HOOKS?

from:
The Complete Book of Boxing
by Curtis Cokes with Hugh Kayser
1980, ETC Publications, Palm Springs, Calif.
On page 45 Cokes writes:
"During the recent series of the United States Championship Boxing Matches on ABC, several of the ring announcers described looping right hand blows as right hooks. There are no such punches as right hooks for the right-handed fighter and those who really know boxing understand that those alleged right hooks are round house rights or sweeping right hands that usually leave the aggressor wide open and vulnerable to counter punches."

even if they are assuming a left handed stance at the time of delivery? What would be the terminology for that particular set of circumstances?

What a display of total cluelessness by buz.
A right handed fighter does not assume a left handed stance.
A fighter with a left handed stance is not a right handed fighter.
That should be obvious enough.

Well yes there is some truth in that, though you are playing a purely game of semantics with the English language. What was Hagler when he assumed a right handed stance for a round at a time? Was he just "goofy"? I suppose you could just say he was "discombobulated". And being "arbitrary" in his fighting approach on such a given day. Maybe reduced to "bar room brawling" for that round?
I dunno, you tell me.
OR you could simply mirror you descriptors. Can you "mirror your descriptors? I'm getting old but I can still do it!

boxrec sicko collins is so desperate in his desire to control all communication on boxrec that he now appears to whine that
quoting from former welterweight champion Curtis Cokes on the basic techniques of boxing be banned from boxrec.
What a SICk individual collins is.

Your point is right but you made yourself wrong. Just because a fighter is right-handed doesn't mean they always fight with a right-handed stance. Hagler was a right-handed southpaw, DLH and Cotto are left handed orthodox. Then a fighter like Mayweather has fought southpaw on a couple of occasions.

The sickness of boxrec is on display as boxrec sicko collins and his enabler buz combine to try to destroy another boxrec thread.
collins and buz CANNOT ALLOW any discussion of the actual techniques of boxing on boxrec since neither knows what boxing is.
