Yes your right, it was a bad night for Paul but he was ok thank god. It was a hell of a punch.

It's just one of those fights that not many got to see at the time.

How I hated Thaxton after that ..

Take a look at the Ryan v Ross Hale fight also

being a young boxing fan i never knew who paul ryan was but his record and what ian darke was saying suggested he was a really good fighter going in to the fight but wasnt that some left hook by a young jono thaxton

I seem to remember paul ryan getting stopped on a card that was shown on eurosport years ago but cant for the life of me remember who it was against.

Good one, thanks for posting that, been a long time since I saw that. Seem to recall Harry Mullan at Boxing news, in his preview, saying that Thaxton might get him with a left hook..hopefully someone puts Ryan/Hale up there too.

Brings back memorys that does , I was in the corner, but Paul had left the camp a month before. I was asked to do the corner and Holligan Fight got talked into it by the wife. In fairness there was a lot of stress for Paul at the time. I would not have taken the Fight. John was a good Fighter who caused or had the ability to cause an upset, and did.

All I got for it was Pauls Dog a young Staff who we called Scrap, Died last year 16 years of fun it gave me. Paul still keeps in touch.

Notice too, Sky showing it Live. Those were the days.

ryan was toooooo confident, wild swings and hands too low, enter the ring not 100% focused and that is an example of what can happen.

Off topic here but... Howard, I read Dave Matthews book, "Looking for a fight" and was wondering how he is getting on now? Do you still keep in touch? He was very complimentary to you in the book.

Collins, was having a natter 2 days ago on Facebook. Paul had just split with His wife that week, everything was going wrong for Him. Its nice to see that now everything is going right.
