In The Sun yesterday,Fwank doubted wether Hatton will ever box again. After seeing him on Sky last week,i wondered the same thing. We are just about in March and still no announcement?Ricky normally has a 12 week camp and needs this just to shift weight.I would also imagine a stadium show need a fair bit of planning.Personally,i hope he doesent bother,i just think he looks like the last thing he wants to do is go into camp.Thoughts?

Im a big fan of Ricky, but not sure if the dedication is in him anymore.
He looked reborn under Beard vs Malignaggi, but the fragmented display and poor camp for Pacquiao seem to give him an excuse to continue, that it was somehow not his fault he lost.
I could have bought that if he'd maintained a good weight and level of fitness, to prolong himself. To not only talk the talk, but be seen to walk the walk.
But if anything to be so inactive and gain such a vast amount of weight for his frame, begs the question - can he even get down to the weight healthily yet alone be a fighting force anymore?
I hope he proves every single one of us wrong.. but how many times can he continue to prove us wrong?
My fear is that he will believe he can still fight at the 'elite level' when his physique and hunger are no longer there and as a result, he gets hurt god forbid.
In closing, he has achieved everything there is to achieve, is wildly famous in the UK for a boxer and has a huge wedge of loot in the bank.
I thought he could have continued at first, but with each passing month his appearance remains the same. And now those months are approaching a year.
Turn it in Ricky, you got nothing to prove mate.

He should never fight again, but sadlky he is such a poor physical state out of training I think he will come back just to get back to 'reasonable shape'.
He is a selfish irresponsible man to mess up his body the way he does, he has a son and that really should convince hgim to turn it in.
I really think he runs the risk of getting hurt if he continues.
Please stop.
But it's his life at the end of the day.

i thought he had lost quite a bit of weight, his face was no where near as round. He did also say he was going to start basic training to get slowly back into shape so when a fight is named he can start intensive training for 8 weeks. And as far as im aware a fight hasnt been named.

not many were saying that before the fight. Revisionism is part of boxing I guess. "Naz was never that good" etc

It's irrelevant now because neither man works with Hatton now, but I clearly remember Floyd not being there until a few weeks away from fight night.
Ricky deserves the credit for his performance most.

Quite simply - if Ricky Hatton boxes again it will be one huge mistake!!! I will state again Ricky has done absolutely fantastic for himself, Team Hatton and more importantly British Boxing!!!
However - I feel he is way way past his best and simply cannot see the sense in a comeback fight.
I fear a fight against "supposedly" inferiror opposition is still going to happen and even that could go wrong!!!

Thing is spud, losing to supposedly inferior opposition could be the best thing for ricky, if he wins, and wins well, he'll be catapulted back into marquee fights with marquee names.

I dont think Ricky wants it any more, likes the fry ups, kebabs and lager too much. What he does want is the public adolation. Ricky Hatton is not a shot fighter though, hes just past his prime and way out of shape. If he really decided to comeback and get in great shape, why would anyone have a problem?
Speaking of comebacks, whats happening with Witter. Go on Ricky you can still give us the fight

floyd came over here for a number of weeks for the Malignaggi fight and prior to that he "was on the phone" to him 3 times a day according to Hatton himself.
Anyways, its not to discredit Lee himself. He clearly is making strides as a good trainer and fair play to him for that.

Floyd Snr cannot be blamed entirely for the loss to Pacquiao. Ricky was in shape, Floyd had him fit for a long period, Ricky was fit & well conditioned when he touched down in Vegas. Maybe he peaked too early?
However, Floyd Snr has said Beard tried to undermine his role & he did not allow that to happen, which is correct if what Snr says is true! Floyd was the head trainer, Beard was the assistant trainer. Head trainer has the final say, period!
Credit goes to Beard for Ricky's performance against Paulie, but Mayweather als garners credit! I guess some trainers & fighters cannot gell that well!

A sensible critic should be able to separate their personal feelings for a boxer from their assessment of his achievements. By this token, are you saying that if you did like Hatton, you wouldn't have considered Tzsyu to be shot?

i thought Tzsyu was there for the taking, but i give him respect for taking on mayweathr & pac, but the only reason he got to that level was because he had so many fans not because of his talent

Of course, but that is the nature of sports and entertainment - and always has been.

i dont think there were many or even any at 140 that wouldve beat him at that time.
