Could Chris Byrd be a potential Green opponent at 185-6?

Chris Byrd is a known fighter, Former Heavy titlist and has a win over Vatali, Tua, and Holyfield, as a result very easy to promote, Danny Green wanted a name, Byrd last fought at 194, is this a possibility at a catch weight of 185/186?
I know some think Danny might not perform at that weight and 181 is his best weight, but i reckon he's fighting around 184 in the ring. Byrd could pocket some decent coin.
How would this pan out?

Byrd's best years are behind him. His attempt to fight at 175 was a disaster and as a cruiserweight he had a win over a nobody.

Yeah, the calls of old and shot would be long and loud.

agree, but i like the idea of this matchup. but a few years ago.
obviously it would be a tough night night for green but it is a fight that would bring out the real mungrel in him and i'd love to see how he would go. it wouldn't surprise me if he pulled off an upset.

Based on recent performances you'd have to favour Green to knock Byrd out. Still, Byrd fights a bit like a bigger Markus Beyer, who certainly gave Green enough troubles, and Byrd was much tougher than Beyer.

No way would a Danny Green win over Chris Byrd be an upset in 2010. More like a formality.

Good to see the responses, i really had a boxing brainstorm on Sunday, and as 1 of his biggest supporters and 1 of the very very few who picked Green to knock Jones out(please refer to PTBF thread) I know you were the other aussies from here as well, i would like him to get another high profile fight and surprisingly i hope it's in his home town.
I think Green beats Byrd in the 6th.
Hey Ollie is Woods still fighting?

oliver,
i said a few years ago.
fighting chris byrd now makes as much sense as mundine fighting jeff fenech now. byrd is only 39 but he just does not seem competitive against good opposition anymore. green fighting hopkins at 43 makes much more sense.

No, Clinton announced his retirement a few months ago.
Buster, agreed. Age is not always an indicator of how capable a fighter is, proven by how Hopkins is an overwhelming favourite to beat Jones next month, depsite being significantly older. He's 45 but still top 2 or 3 in the division.
