Happy Thirty Ninth Anniversary-Smokin Joe
Posted: 08 Mar 2010, 15:20
Hey guys, today is the 39th anniversary of one of the most important athletic events of the 20th century.
The night when two undefeated heavyweight champions met at a time when both men were closest to their peaks in what would easily be the most important fight of their careers. Their seminal moment, if you will.
The one night when the whole world was watching.
And, oh yes, before I forget, the night that Smokin' Joe Frazier knocked Muhammad Ali on his butt and emerged as undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Guys, let's all smoke the peace pipe today in observance of this moment.
Or, in possibly some very isolated cases, at least the crack pipe.

Reposted for Yancey. May he savor this day.
