Anyone else noticed this? I find myself not posting there or even reading that much of it anymore.

I treat the Current Scene like I do my elderly parents.

Visit there about six times a year and always come away bewildered at what goes on.

Yes, its more or less about American boxing.

Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it's different to ours.

They don't have anything like the British (or for that matter, Commonwealth, English, Masters, Area, European) titles.

As such, there doesn't tend to be as many middle-level contest to discuss.

I really like Americans in general too, but on the internet (and defintely on current scene) the brashest and most obnoxious ones always seem to come to the fore. There's just way too much trolling and "America is the best!" type bullshit on there for my liking. You can definitely have a much more reasoned debate on the other forums.

Like whicker said, there aren't as many middle level contests being discussed as in here. As a result of that, combined with not many big fights going on yet, people are speculating and debating about things we don't know the answer to. Mostly the Pacquiao and Mayweather soap opera.

When we (boxing fans) have got big fights occurring each week the discussion is much more interesting. :TU:

Quite right! Their unshakable hold on the heavyweight title and tolerance of other creeds and culture demonstrate this...........and their quaint love of all things English.

The Australian forum makes the Current Scene look like the most tolerant, liberal and multicultural place outside of a Benetton advert.

Plus numpties like Verballistic, who think they are mouth pieces for the Whitehouse, spouting all their pro-American crap every 5 minutes and constantly bringing politics into discussions. This is a boxing forum, we shouldn't be discussing nationality, race, politics etc!

In all the time i have been here i never gave the Current Scene much of a look in, mainly due to the poor quality of posts. But i've been visiting there often these last few weeks as i'm taking part in the prediction league over there. Its expertly run (by the founder of this site), the system used and the fights put up for selection are well thought out. You might not be interested in the chit-chat over there, but this league is top notch and worth checking out, I recommend it. Its probably not to late to join either, only 4 fights have gone so far, but you'd have a bit of catching up to do points wise.

I live abroad and meet a lot of foreigners. Generally i find Americans to be full of themselves, some characters are more toned down than others but usually the majority of them rate their own opinions the highest. There's a smugness about them that rubs me up the wrong way. They are far too into themselves, their own country and their own way of thinking that i usually dont strike up friendships with them. Canadians on the other hand are a different breed altogether, at least from my expierence. The smugness is generally not there and for me, they are just more likeable than their neighbours.

Some proper mout breathers and remedials over there at the moment. The jingoism of some of the American posters really rubs me up the wrong way.
