Joe Frazier vs Ken Norton

Who do you think would have won? A fight that never came off. I believe Norton was a sparing partner for Frazier at one time but their paths never crossed for real.

I reckon Frazier by stoppage around the 7th-9th rounds.

Frazier would win. Norton can't hit hard enough to keep Frazier off him and his chin is mediocre at best.

"can't hit hard enough to keep Frazier off him "

Those are the exact words I recently posted about the first Frazier-Ali fight.

LOL

I wrote that the fight showed

Ali couldn't defend himself against Frazier's left hook

Ali couldn't punch hard enough to keep Frazier off him.

Give credit when you appropriate someone else's exact words.

Granberry- If Ali didn't win the rematch in the Garden and the rubber match in Manila by stoppage you wouldn't be so bitter.

TheOne,

If Frazier didn't beat Ali thoroughly and knock Ali flat on his back in the final round.

you and the rest of the walking army of Thomas Hauserites

wouldn't be so desperate to direct attention away from that fight--the defining fight of Ali's career.

The fight showed

Ali could not defend himself against Frazier's left hook

Ali could not punch hard enough to keep Frazier off him.

Why do you say that?

I feel poetic.....

during that memorable period of time

their celebrated lives by each other, defined,

Roughly 40 rounds between them were fought,

one man was decked

the other was stopped.

Gee, which is worse. Getting knocked down, getting up and finishing the fight or being stopped. That's a tough one, Boss.

At least Ali didn't quit.

That depends, I'm pretty sure everyone would rather be Frazier if given the choice today.

I rather be the most recognized athlete on the face of the Earth, the recipient of the Medal Of Freedom, the guest of three presidents , and to have met world leaders like Nelson Mandela (Nobel Prize Winner). Anwar Sadat (Nobel Prize Winner), Indira Gandhi, Leonid Brezhnev, Fidel Castro, and Deng Xiaoping

Muhammad Ali is a seminal figure in American history. He transcended boxing. He is arguably one of the most famous African Americans in American history along with Dr. King, Malcom X, Frederic Douglass, and Barack Obama.

I'd rather be able to walk and talk without assistance. Not that Joe doesn't suffer the affects of his wars. But I don't see how anyone can say with a straight face that would prefer to have advanced Parkinson's. You're quite a fan.

Because there are more imporant things than longetivity and perfect health like leaving an indelible mark on the world. Jesus lived to 33. Pontius Pilate lived to be an old man. I rather be the former.

Not me, I'd rather be Peter or Judas than hang on the cross. Comparing Ali to Jesus is just a hair extreme. If confronted with obstacles and suffering you tackle them the best you can. Jesus didn't want to die or suffer, you're saying you would love it.

I'm not going to go and on and on about it because it's a silly question and I don't believe you anyway. But LOL at the depths of your Ali love.

Peter was crucified upside down because he said he didn't deserve the honor of being crucified like Jesus. Judas hung himself. Ad the Bible said "it would have been better for him to have never been born."

I am not comparing Ali with Jesus. I am just saying I would rather be a historical figure.

Its all a matter of dates. The earlier in the 70s and the better
shot Frazier has, the later on and the better chance Norton
has.
1974-75 it would be an interesting match. I would have liked
to have seen that one.

As best of friends they both made it clear such a fight would never happen.

Sounds about right to me if both men are in their prime.

Of course, a Frazier post-FOTC would have more trouble with Norton, but still mostly prevails.
