IBF #15 middleweight Sam “King” Soliman (38-11, 16 KOs) scored an eleventh round technical knockout over outclassed former Australian 147-pound champion Shannon McMahon (16-6-1, 6 KOs) on Saturday at the Moonee Valley Racecourse, Moonee Valley, Victoria, Australia. With the win Soliman claimed the WBF title.

Soliman holds notable wins over several world rated middleweights and super middleweights including Sakio Bika and Enrique Ornelas. In 2005 Soliman lost a disputed decision to Ronald “Winky “Wright and in 2008 he dropped a twelve round decision in a WBA 168 pound title bout to Anthony Mundine when punch stats had him outscoring his opponent.

Soliman is chasing a shot at IBF middleweight champion Sebastian Sylvester.

“I have the style to beat Sylvester who I respect as a champion,” Soliman said. “My trainer Dave Hedgecock has got me in great shape and I am ready fight any middleweight in the world in their hometown, if necessary.”

The promoter of the card was Joe Nader

i thought sam looked awesome last nite he was aggressive applying non stop pressure from the opening bell i gave every round to sam up until the stoppage, he had shannon hurt in the 9th and i though he was gona finish him off but he made it to the bell. sam was all over him him in the 11th and dropped him a couple of times and the stoppage was there. i liked sams power last night too i think hes being workin on that alot. hs fitness levels must be as high as ever his workrate is incredible and looked like he was doing it easy.

Good luck to Sam. it would be good to see him win a genuine World Title before he retires.

Yep, it would be good, but I doubt he'll get that chance.
